Still trying to figure out whether I liked After the Hunt or feel like it was a bit of a Luca-wank.    Interesting it was very Woody Allen-coded the weekend his biggest defender died

Surprised to learn it’s a remake of a Korean film

Most excited to see Blue Moon this weekend

Anyone gone to see Del Toro's Frankenstein?

Debating taking myself to the local independent to see it this weekend, but worried I'll fall asleep given it's 2 and a half hours and doesn't "start" until 8:40PM.

I went and thought it was an amazing film. Note that I’m a huge del toro fan. We caught the 6:15. The pacing felt good to me, never got bored. Visually stunning, solid action, well casted and acted, surprising character development especially without getting boring.

I'm not super familiar with El toros work, overall I liked it though. Felt a little rushed. Glad I saw it in theatres. Any el Toro recommendations?

Still want to see begonia

Heath was first, but Foy's crooked grind was pretty sick.

You and the D00D have turned this thread into a horrible head-on-collision between a short bus full of regular kids and a van full of paraplegics.

Good not great

Liked it more than his other films, but that could be the restraint shown owes to the fact it’s a pretty faithful adaptation of a Korean film.

Blue Moon is personally really good but likely not for everyone.

He might have thrown his name on as a producer,
Now that i think about it.

I’d recommend checking out Nightmare Alley.   It was kinda lost in the pandemic, but I thought it was one of his more interesting ones lately.   Not perfect, but I was intrigued to see where it was going

I almost bought it bc I heard how great it was but then I saw the movie was being made.   I’ve had a good percentage of the books I’ve read recently get adapted (most recently Ballad of A Small Player on Netflix) that it kinda bums me out because I don’t think I’ll ever return to the book after I’ve seen the movie…one of those “so many books so little time” things.

It's a super quick read, I think it was only like 300 or so pages. I had to read it for a medicine in literature class I took. I definitely get not reading a book that's been adapted though.

Just realized there are two Richard Bachman (Stephen King alias) adaptations out this year: The Long WALK and RUNning Man…

Anyways, someone I “know” might have seen one of them recently and thinks it’s probably the best King adaptation in 30 years and better than the original.   Not perfect, but a lot of fun and well made which makes sense considering the director.

Had a lot of fun in Predator.

Running Man a little less, but still a good enough time.

Nuremberg was interesting.   Wish it was a little more about the political maneuvering to get the trial even agreed to bc that was pretty interesting.

Kill Bill: Whole Bloody Affair tickets just went on sale for weekend of 12/5

Excited to see a better version of this.  Saw QTs personal print in one of his theaters so it was on a small screen with burned in subs for Cannes, so hopefully this time will be a little more epic feeling

I was surprised to hear it was from a South American author - so I’m def curious to read it as I’m sure culturally there will be things that differentiate each narrative enough

Ive read that there are some parts that are more stream of consciousness so im sure the translation will lose some of its cultural significance.
Die, My Love (Matate, amor) was her first novel too! I dunno if youve seen the cover of it, but it gives Yellow Wallpaper vibes

I read the book is actually a little more clear on what’s happening.

Just saw it yesterday…don’t know if I’d recommend it, but Jennifer Lawrence was amazing

Its a movie id recommend to certain people but not everyone. I really enjoyed the ride and Lawrence's played a caged wild animal incredibly well.
