Question: if Kill Bill counts as one film now, does that give us hope for two rather than one more Tarantino film still to come?

You’d think!  But then that would throw off Hateful 8 being his 8th film

I think he’s more interested in doing things like having Fincher direct the OUATI Hollywood semi-sequel or the Django/Zorro film he’s talked about for awhile

Apparently Fortnight got him to animated a whole sequence where Gogo’s sister goes looking for revenge from the Bride

I've got an 12:00 appointment with Hamnet to get to.
When the woman who recommended this movie told me the title I thought it was a pig themed satire.

No spoilers!   (Not convinced there are any, just something I heard vaguely about the book that wasn’t necessarily plot-specific )

Not necessarily true.    Netflix has been itching to expand from out of the streaming game for awhile.   They never wanted to get into sports, but then changed their minds pretty abruptly    They never wanted to allow theatrical releases beyond Oscar qualifying runs, but they bent over for Greta Gerwig’s Narnia and others.    A big part of the aquisition is for franchise IP (particularly with video games) which Netflix has struggled to develop on its own.   Netflix wants this because they want to be able to expand like Disney has into parks, vacations, etc, but they realize streaming has its limits.   (The would also love to get into the YouTube creator economy and start poaching those talents or developing their own)

Netflix has signaled it’s not going to stop WB releasing theatrical movies.   In the short term that’s just honoring contracts.  As we saw during Covid, movie directors and actors do not take kindly to having their work shoved onto streaming.   That will be likely 2-3 years worth of commitments, but I don’t see why they’d stop there.   The people they want to attract value the theatrical space and I couldn’t think of any business reason they’d want to antagonize them.

Kill Bill: Whole Bloody Affair tickets just went on sale for weekend of 12/5

Excited to see a better version of this.  Saw QTs personal print in one of his theaters so it was on a small screen with burned in subs for Cannes, so hopefully this time will be a little more epic feeling
Saw it yesterday. Easier to burn through both movies in one sitting than I thought.
Had a great time.

Same (second time this year) - but the Fortnight “lost chapter” was totally missable.   Not sure if the story needed the extra anime scene, but it was fun to see.

Finally saw the Spinal Tap sequel and was happy enough with it.  Glad it didn't make me wish they didn't do it in the first place like the new star wars trilogy for example.

Can I ask those of you who have informed opinions: Does the Netflix Warner Bros thing mean good or bad for movies?

I was rooting for NBCUniversal to win. This is maybe better than the Ellisons getting their hands on it? But there really is no winner when the largest companies in any industry get consolidated and there is little to no government oversight to keep it honest.

Explanation that seems to be picking up steam is that Netflix basically made this deal knowing it wouldn’t go through and freezing their main competitor for 1.5 - 2.5 years because they can’t make any strategic moves while they wait to be acquired … which would be worth the nearly $6B Netflix would pay as a kill fee for a deal not working out

Apparently apple have a lot of inner turmoil atm with leadership shake ups at the top (maybe even Tim Apple leaving) partially related to how far behind Apple is in the AI race.  I’d venture that’s why they didnt step in

Also of note: Paramount attempting a hostile takeover by going straight to the board and offering significantly more per share

Had seen it a little bit ago, but I feel like I can probably talk about it now: really enjoyed avatar 3.   2 and 3 put together feel like a satisfying tv season worth of storytelling.   A little shine has worn off just because it’s the 3rd one but it’s still a fun time

I could not untangle the dialogue on stage but I enjoyed the film, too.
Had no experience with Shakespeare. For some reason I love the opening shot of the tree trunks.

Timmy Chalomet looks like young Groucho Marx through Marty Surpreme.   They’ve uglied him up a bit, but you watch this baffled that he’s a heartthrob and it’s creepy too because he still has the physical body of a 15 year old.

Saw anaconda last night. Going in with zero expectation, it was alright. It made me laugh and even jump once or twice. I'd watch again in passing.

Plan is to see Zootopia before going to the thunder game today. We shall see.

Late to the party but I really liked kill bill in theatres this time around. Love an intermission and Rza killed the score, is it a score of it's not original?

Pumped for the lotr as well. Those are my deathbed movies. Or tombstone.

Anaconda had some funny moments toward the end tht they kinda gave away in the trailers.   It was just poorly directed and kinda did nothing with the talent they had.   Tropic thunder already showed what you could do with a similar premise and this could have been the super-indie filmmaker spoof to TT’s Hollywood version.

It looks like "Hey A.I make me a predictable trailer for the Odyssey if Christopher Nolan directed it with nothing surprising or unexpected, like dozens of other movies in recent years."

But I'm open minded

I will say it is a teaser for a movie coming 7 months from now so I don’t think it’s going to give away much.  People seemed much more pleased with the six minute scene

That said, the Odyssey is basically “on a boat, then on an island” over and over again post-Trojan horse.  I think a bunch of people will be disappointed just like they were when Fellowship of the Ring ended and they had no idea there were two more movies/books to go.  I like Nolan, but was a bit bummed he chose this as his next project.   Wanted him to do Bond, but I think Tenet is as close as we’ll ever get

28 Years: Bone temple was great.   Maybe my favorite one of the series.   Def a diff feel than part 1 (diff director) but carried on the story well.   Don’t think you really need to rewatch part 1 to follow along, as long as you have a general memory of it
