Amongst the barrage of incredibly foul and misogynistic comments on the IG post, one girl skater left a sincere comment that I think should make anyone with half a brain understand why this clip was given a spotlight. Some washed up skatepark hero with a slap account that nobody gives a fuck about isn’t inspiring young girls to start or continue skating. Breana is. Most of you in this thread are fucking kooks on and off the board and it shows.

For me its looks like its not that she squats for sake of squatting but rather leans in to the rail with her shins (witch of course results the squat). And that makes it (almost) a different trick.

Does it look good? No. Does it deserve a thread? No.

It doesn't make you a misogynist if you stop there and don't make a bigger deal about it, but weirdos gotta make it this big commentary on women's skateboarding as a whole.
Look at the talent range of sponsored and pro male skaters, there are countless very popular pro skaters who aren't even in the same galaxy talent-wise as guys like Ishod, Yuto, Jah, Foy, Thiago, etc but nobody says "why are we celebrating this sub-par male skating when there are so many more talented male skaters out there?!"
In fact, I'd say most "core" skaters have a tendency to prefer the gritty, working class male pros over the Olympic superstars who land wild flip-in/flip-out tricks on handrails with 100% consistency.
But I guess that's different for some reason?

Other pro skaters is the distinction here. There are very few women who are pro skaters on legitimate board brands, so when you see someone elevated to the pro ranks on one of these companies who doesn't seem to be pushing their skating it's hard not to get a little frustrated when there's a lot of other women who rip who don't even have sponsors.
