It is weird, if a kid hucks themselves down something, it is super gnarly. If a parent encourages it, it becomes gross.
I suppose it comes down to autonomy and skateboarding is supposed to be a space for kids to grow up and learn on their own, not return to the traditional sports model of adults telling the kids what to do. Skate parents are annoying for sure. I've seen more than a few kids in tears as their parents yell at them to just go down with the trick.
I'm pretty anti-SLS, but it might be a stretch to say SLS promotes child abuse though.
