Hook Ups was kinda awesome back in the day.

Kids don’t know what it was like to be the only nerd in your school who liked anime and you had one shelf at Suncoast to buy overpriced VHS tapes or had to take the train to the city to buy untranslated bootlegs and you were never ever going to kiss a girl because zero girls in your city liked anime. Also, Jeremy Klein could ollie 3 stacked picnic tables and had a mean fastplant.

That said, when you get to the stage when a 50+ year old man is selling hand-screened decks of nubile teen side-tit, maybe it’s time to move on.

I realize this is more of a peeve or popular opinion but I’m salty about how “tech” is used to justify higher priced shoes.

Shoving a piece of EVA foam in between the insole and a rubber outsole doesn’t make a shoe “tech”. A budget running shoe at Payless can do this for $60. There’s no technology beyond this in a 933 and the only things that could possibly justify its retail price are the Boss’s signing bonus and having too many panels to sew.

If Ray put a full part out today I would watch it immediately. If Gonz put one out I wouldn’t watch it at all.

Tbf I’ve always been really stoked on Ray Barbees ban this part, and it came out 2 years before I was born. It took me way longer to appreciate gonz and I guess it was after I knew who he was and what he stands for. Maybe Barbee was just more accessible to people who started skating in the early 2000s cause his style is butter and no complys were starting to make a comeback.

We all get the Reynolds aura, however that still isn't really selling the 933... hell stale colorways are on deep discount at most shops around me... and majority people still either skate the 440, 480 or 1010

The aging demographic of consumers in our space. Just looking around I can confidently guess that the average and median ages of skateboarders are probably the oldest it’s ever been. There’s likely a market for an elder statesman to sell a premium shoes.


And Gonz’ art is fine, but the lack of exploration with his style and medium is a huge knock on him. His 2026 stuff shouldn’t look exactly like his 2007 stuff.

Might be both unpopular and snobbish, but - 95% of skate related "art" has nothing to do with art. And I don't mean high brow art, either.

It's mostly just scribbles and scrabbles that became more or less recognizable and marketable. Oh, wow, an umpteenth Sect Eye doodle. Wheeee. And that's coming from a die hard Templeton fan.
