Do you guys actually think Ave masterminded this?  He rather believes in this and is getting a check or someone’s promised him ownership and after it falls on its face he’ll say he didn’t know what happened…..
[close]

No I also didn’t think it was his idea, sounds like something someone into AI would shovel not Ave
[close]

he's schilling for it in the comments so what difference does it make?

I don’t think Ave is a tech bro type but will take tech bro money I guess I’m also assuming Ave doesn’t understand the streaming model and subscriptions

lmao
There was an interview with TK, when he was a plumber. He got asked if he gets recognized on the job and his response was "No. Plumbin in disguise." Everyone on SLAP thought he said "put him in the sky"

That doesn't matter, he's still doing it and trying to reap the benefits off of some bullshit AI model. Whether or not he understands the tech behind it doesn't matter, he's voluntarily doing it to try and make a fuckin' buck off of other people's work. It's lame and smarmy, and the fact that it's AVE doesn't change that. If this was P-Rod or Mikey Taylor everyone here would rightfully be calling them opportunistic dickheads.

You’re right I guess I haven’t seen Ave blow up his credibility before now so there’s some benefit of the doubt

Aren't they both low key rip offs of skatefolio.io? I also feel like the majority of skate parts/videos just get put up on youtube for free these days.

I don't see the market being there for this. Who tf cares about x-ray trick identification. I just can't see there really being a big enough market for this and I'm sure whoever's behind this didn't do any market research. The website/app isn't even finished yet - the about page is like a business consultant contact form but you... upload your resume for it?

Maybe some rich entity paid him a fat stack to promote this, like those crypto scam things. Hopefully that’s the case and AVE gets his bag and doesn’t have to think about it after the post dies down.

I really don't like the insinuation hes doing this to help skateboarders get paid better

A skate part is basically already a long commercial, if hes trying play this angle hes already in perfect position to advocate for better pay without sinner tier business ventures

Fuck that, he should have to think about this. This whole "get the bag" mentality is why we have crypto scamming assholes to begin with. Ave isn't a petulant child being taken advantage of, he's a middle aged man who is more than capable of being discerning with their business decisions.

Skateboarding does not need a streaming service lol. Most shit worth watching is on YouTube. If a company is actually selling a video in 2025 they'll get more of cut if you just buy the video. This is just grift albeit relatively harmless. Even the old videos, how you gonna give money to a bunch of companies who no longer exist? How do you make sure the money gets to the people who made the original video if that company was bought out by a different company? Take Fallen and Ride To Sky, for example, who gets the payout? Some dude in South America?

This is dumb. And dill already license to print money. Legacy tarnishing maneuver. Whatever the fuck that bullshit he talked about the river he's swimming in the shit now. Kook.

If there’s one thing skateboarders and people in general love, it’s paying extra money and jumping through hoops to do something they can easily do already for free.

no one is asking for this. if he was serious about a more equitable compensation model for skate videos, he would be doing collective organizing in the industry to bargain with Thrasher to improve the financial arrangement they offer when they host a company's video on their Youtube channel. is there any payout whatsoever to brands based on the views their videos receive on the channel? similarly, there's definitely some improvements to be made in the way skaters are paid by companies for the videos they're featured in too.

here's a good question for AVE: the vast majority of FA and Hockey's videos go up on the "FA WORLD ENTERTAINMENT" Youtube channel, and FA is presumably getting paid by Youtube for the streams those videos receive. are the skaters featured in those videos receiving residuals from those Youtube stream payouts? something tells me the answer is no. AVE could already be moving the needle on this and making change in the existing model in the industry, but it seems like he's more interested in the extremely obvious grift that's going on here than actually making a difference.

The amount of people in Ave’s comments throwing out fire emojis and jumping head first into backing this thing (and blindly defending it) is another reminder that so so many people are just flat out incapable of thinking critically and will eat whatever they’re fed. It’s fuckin depressing.

didnt know Peter Sidlauskas was behind the den

as most of you have mentioned, why pay when we can watch on youtube? What is the value proposition here?

Lol. Eldee is definitely a human. He’s like a raider on horse back who’s kinda scared to do battle. Somehow he closes his eyes and swings his sword wildly and wakes up in a pile of dead orcs.

Even if this blew up big time, surely it’s just a recipe for copyright lawsuits?

Are they gonna be super transparent about all views?
What about if you don’t ride for that company anymore?
What about guest tricks, shared parts, friends sections, how do they divvy that up?
Is it time based? Would Marc get paid the same Olson for a watch of fully flared? Would either of them get anything with no affiliation  to the brand that doesn’t even the same owners?
What kind of contracts did the riders sign with the brands who made the videos and what was the mention of video copyright in them?

It seems like it could be messy. If someone sussed this out 15 years ago i’d think they were clever. Now? I don’t think you can put the genie back in the bottle.
