Pool/Billiards
« on: April 03, 2026, 01:55:58 PM »
Any other people play? It's one of the things that's kinda caused me to skate less the past 4 years, I've gotten really into it. I play  pretty much every day, including in an APA 8-ball league on Sundays. Also just been watching a lot of pool and even more snooker (haven't played yet though but there's some tables in my area). Would be cool to know if any other pals are into cue sports.

I saw your mom do a ollie to cooch drop straight down the big black pole, it was gnarly. she defiantly shut that shit down

Never developed any real skill on the table and never bothered to learn any official rules but I loved opportunities to play.
It’s so satisfying sinking shots or even ricocheting the cue ball off a couple walls and banging into a cluster.

I remember a couple spots in LA Korea town, you could drink and smoke inside if you kept it chill, only visited a few times but that was a novel environment for me.

I’ve been meaning to watch those pool hustler movies and I find that culture interesting.

Best Pho in the PNW is sold from a pool hall in Seattle.

I’ve always enjoyed playing over the years, never serious tho. Never had my own cue, or played in a league, but enjoy watching some good games while having some drinks and the anticipation as my name/marker get closer to game time on busy nights in a pool bar. Holding the table for as long as you can, and that rush/focus when your aim is just on and shot after shot keep dropping, the leave is just how you wanted it to be and it’s obvious. Feels SO good.

I've played on and off since a kid never really being that good, but every now and then I'll have a game where i start making these crazy shots outta no where... never able to replicate. 1 outta 5 games or so lol. Akin to landing all your normal tricks first try. Great feeling

Especially on a date.

I’ve been playing since I was 14-years-old. However, my main game is three-cushion billiards (props to anyone on here who even knows what that is…it’s the REAL cue game). That said, I’ll still play 14:1, 8, 9, or 1-pocket.

Three cushion looks so insanely difficult. There's a few carom tables at the pool hall I go to but I've never played. Russian Pyramid is probably the only game I've seen that looks even harder.

I play straight pool for practice quite a bit, it's really helpful for playing off a bad break in 8 ball. I also play a lot of 9, 10, and sometimes 7 ball, albeit not competitively. Haven't played one pocket but just from watching it's definitely a completely different game from other forms of pool. I should really start dabbling in it.

This is a bold statement, but I’ll make it. Most 3C billiard  players look at pocket pool players the way skaters look at…scooter kids. :)

Oh, also, ever played on the old 5x10 tables? I have a few times, and they are insane. It’s crazy what the old-school players did on those things (I’m a big pool / billiard history junkie, too).

And the first time I ever saw a Snooker table?!? Omfg. SO BIG with TINY pockets. Horrifying game.

Met my wife while playing pool at Mac Deuce in Miami.  It's so fun holding down a table at a dive bar, especially when traveling.

Hah, I'd believe it. I know a lot of pool players who play 3 cushion but I don't know if I've ever met any 3 cushion players who play pool, probably some snooker guys in there though.

I don't think there's a 10x5 table in Chicago unfortunately, I'd love to play on one though. I feel like running straight pool would be easier in some aspects on a table that big since you're working with the width of the table so much more than other games.

The first time I saw a snooker table my mind was BLOWN, it makes watching games that much more impressive. There's a couple tables at my pool hall--Chris's Billiards if you've ever heard of it, they shot The Color of Money there--maybe this is the year I finally start trying snooker.

You ever dabble in Chinese 8 ball? That's one thing I'm really trying to find here.
