This frivolous thread is really stealing air time from the pivot cup durometer and frankentruck discourse around here.

Fakie ollie switch back feeble.

Love some Davis, switch heel as second to last trick in Ticket to Ride always stuck out to me too.

Any good Redditor would argue to the death about how it can’t possibly be a fakie ollie to switch feeble, and technically they’d be right but I agree that for certain tricks the “technically correct” name is dumb and doesn’t work. I’ve always liked how skating has a decent ruleset for naming tricks but also has these exceptions where it makes sense to do something different.

Edit - here’s what a Redditor would have to say about it

wonder how long dude’s been skating.

lol the opening line is “I have been skating for 30 years” so I would imagine he has to be around my age. So there is no way he started skating before Ollie’s were invented lol.

often people say “I’ve been skating for x years” but that doesn’t really mean anything. I’m sure he has owned a board for 30 years, but how much time has he put on the board over that 30 years is the real question…  ;D ;D ;D

There is probably a particular time in your life where you are able to put in like 40 hrs a week into skating. If you do this for 4 years - and I mean very conscious effort the entire time, you will clock an insane amount of hours, around 10,000, which is typically the amount of practice most entry level professional musicians and athletes have throughout the last 60 years or so. You can see it in someone’s skating no matter their natural ability if they have poured that kind of work into something. Your personality really starts to come through

Forgot how good this was. The song do alot of the work but it really surreal how much feeling this invokes. Kinda makes you like somber but in a happy way for skateboarding. At least in my opinion personally both now and when it originally came out. Im sure im chatting shit but this one top 5 feels wise for me. It really gets to the heart of why this shits so fun. Never a big Davis fan but this always cheered me up its a very solid watch.

shouldn't

while I understand the "rule" that you can't pop fakie into a switch trick, its pretty stupid in this day n age. There are clearly exceptions made already such as fakie crook, which is just short for fakie-ollie to switch-crook, so why stop there?

Saying fakie ollie to switch feeble is 100% more intuitive than fakie losi, which while technically correct, sounds stupid af.

fakie nosegrind and 5-0 are obvious enough for most people, but if its a more complicated trick, im not going to avoid breaking the "no fakie into switch" rule to say a technically correct name that then takes another minute to explain.
yeah pretty much this. it makes sense for most tricks (fakie five-o, fakie back tail, e.c.t), but in some instances it just doesn’t work. you’re not going to call a fakie crook a “fakie suski” even though technically you should by rule. this is a fakie ollie switch feeble, or just a fakie feeble to simplify since if it was f/s you would say “fakie fs feeble”. by rule yeah it should be a fakie losi since everything fakie is just regular in reverse/backwards, but it just doesn’t sound right.

imagine fucking the dog shit outta chris roberts

Without looking at the options my brain said fakie losi grind. But I didn’t know what a losi grind was until Alex Olson did one in Pretty Sweet. So in 2011 I would’ve registered it as fakie to switch feeble or something.

But I’m all for just calling it a Torgi grind 15 years later lol.
