- GH posts paywalled video profiting off MJ death
- video tells others to get upset about 9Club profiting of MJ death
- kook sees video, gets upset
- kook yells online about paywalled video (GH rage bait successful)
- kook fails to see the hypocrisy, but others don’t bite
- other kooks come to defense, their favorite influencer would never use controversy to gain views
- still, nobody bites
- kook shows ephemeral sign of insight, changes thread title

This is a reach dude. Like saying Netflix profits off of one particular upload vs. people just wanting a variety of stuff and that happens to be one of them. I highly doubt this is the video that gets a bunch of brand new GH patreon subscribers.

We're not painting broad strokes here. All GH videos serve a niche: controversial takes on skateboarding. There's no need for  any Netflix analogy deflection outside of deflection.

Which bit did I get wrong below?

This thread is about a YouTuber creating content, a reaction video, for his paid subscribers.

That the video he's reacting to is a group of skateboarders' tribute to their dead friend is in poor taste.

The fact that he then suggests some sort of profit motive, (himself through a paywalled video!), is also in poor taste.

I saw the video, it wasn't rage bait.

And yet, here we are, in a thread created by someone who watched the video, bought the rage bait, and is trying to get others to feel the same emotional reaction he does.
I told you- the idea that he profited off MJ's death. The fact that you didn't understand my analogy doesn't make it wrong.

I'm not telling you how to feel, I'm defending OP because I agreed with OP. If you disagree, that's fine, but you're the one trying to get me to feel a certain way by suggesting that I'm being mean to 9Club because they were MJ's friends. So what? They made a mistake.

It's not that deep man, I'm not suggesting we cancel them or anything.

Oh man I bet everybody who clicks on this thread will download a computer virus and when you go to check your email a laughing skull with sunglasses will appear on your screen and the sound effect from Pac Man when he dies will play and you can bet it’s game over after that.
Game over man!!

Chris has been a habitual MJ mentioner and always in praise. He loved MJ it’s obvious as fuck. He took tons of opportunities to tell us.

I think it’s incredibly insensitive to talk about how others deal with loss and they should be left without petty criticism in how the honor their homie of decades.

Patreon or not.  :( :( :(
Album link. I saw another pals account   Photos too big. Apologies. I know some of yall hate me for it

No, it is Boing sound.  Boing boing boing.

This thread is funny. It deserves to stay.

I wish I knew Marc, but I have a feeling he would have loved the episode.

If you can stomach the NC, go back and listen to Marc’s episode where he gifted them the iPad. It’s heartbreaking to know that such a loving person is gone. I hope he knew how loved he was.
Thanks y’all. It’s been fun.

Probably not the greatest look to be slamming beers at a tribute for the guy who died in a drunk driving accident but we out here slamming beers in tribute to the guy who died in a drunk driving accident. How come thrasher didnt get a big stink over that? Barley a peep over that. Makes you wonder, why? Surley its not just piling on the 9club for the sake of the 9club.

Joah didnt have to upload the unmuted version to paetron. That was a choice he made. Everybody and there mothers know the clippers would have uploaded it in full within a few days. Other ways of distributing that material is available. It was a choice to put something people would want to pay for behind a pay wall. There nothing doing disengious shit. Who cares.

What i find kinda sad outside of this debate hinging almost entirely on what talking internet head you subscribe too. No one has made the realization that theres an entire world outside of skateboarding. For the people who remained close to him in his life, folks not central to skateboarding the last 10 years, would probably say both tributes miss the mark.(pun not intended) its all fine and dandy to sit here and reminisce over his old footy. But almost all of that shit was nearly 10 years old 10 years ago. Alot seemingly happened in his life since than for the worse, and marc johnson the skateboarder is one facet of who he was. To skateboarders thats a fitting tribute. But to people who actually stayed in touch with him, that might not have been him at all. Arguing that shit is so stupid. They are both fine tributes. Both are monetizing it. Who cares. It really does just sound like Jerry jaded in joahs ear. And thats fine. Thats what happens when people die. Seldom does anyone come to the same conclusions in death. Theres so much nuance in personal relationships and shit. Its uselss arguing this shit.
