My morning commute is on a road which borders a private golf course. As I'm driving by, I will slow down and wait for a golfer who is carefully lining up his/her shot and then LAY ON MY HOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOORN as soon as they look like they are entering the moment to take it. I did it this morning and I'll do it on my way home tonight.

What's sports has become definitely makes me question watching sometimes. Just a cash grab.

When someone masters something it dips into art territory (whether it's objective or subjective) for me and it makes it easy to watch/listen.

It could be anything and if they know their stuff, they'll have my attention.

I'm not a sports fan, but I am a local teams fan. Been watching the Chiefs since I was a child, and the games are typically on Sunday afternoons when I'm not really doing anything else anyways, so I still follow them. Don't really know what's going on in the rest of the NFL.
Sometimes I like to sit out in the back yard with a beer and listen to baseball games on my old AM radio, I don't care much about the actual game, it's just relaxing.

I used to like MMA a lot but I'm just not into it anymore. Fuck Dana White.

My girl and I have been watching Sumo tournaments on YouTube, it's pretty fun but man it's hard to follow, a lot more complicated than I would have thought.

The only thing worse than watching sports is listening to grown men talk about it.  Yea I have nothing else to add here.

Yeah could you imagine if skaters listened to other adult skaters talk about skateboarding? Ughhhh that would be just a nightmare.

Torn-up knees, Terrible rich money-grubbing owners, thousand dollar nosebleed seats, ruptured achilles, confrontational drunk fans, public money for stadiums, concussions, fifteen-dollar beers, the knicks app, the national anthem, separated shoulders, gambling, little league dads, steroids, psycho competitors, ice skating moms, twenty dollar nachos, the celebration of psycho competitors, flopping, exploitation wearing the mask of opportunity, riding the bench for four years, playing hurt…

…but you get a ready-made sense of community, and (if you’re a fat old dude like me) you get to feel somehow connected to incredible athleticism.

Worth it? The way sports are in this moment, probably not. But the NBA thread has been my only social outlet for like two months. So there’s that.
