lately, this has been treating me right. since i can't be home and drinking stone & wood pacific ale, this is a pretty decent substitute.

Original Sin and Wood Chuck (especially their Granny Smith variety) are both really good.

Lagunitas always know how to make a good, strong but still decent tasting beer. If you ever see their limited release "little sumpin" get it!

recent additions to the quiver.  been wanting to try some brew dogs for a while

[close]

It's funny, I've heard that this brewery on the whole is kinda meh in terms of making good beers

the Tokio was pretty fantastic.  not overpowered by the alcohol surprisingly.  complex and carameley.  i actually liked the Punk IPA.  had an interesting flavor.  the 5am was so so.

on a separate note the Oak Aged Yeti (seen in other pic) was fucking amazing.  going to stockpile as much of that as i can

great beer. i have a 2011 to have side by side with the 2012 over thanksgiving.

had this years black xantus last weekend. as far as barrel aged coffee stouts go it might be the best i've ever had. i prefer it over KBS.

What's the dilly with the Sierra Nevada Celebration Ale? Is it a really limited release? I love the normal one and the torpedo but it seems like it may well be impossible to get my hands on any of the celebration ale here in Scotland

Not sure about it's international availability, but it's their winter seasonal release. It goes kind of fast but they seem to make a decent amount of it. You could always trade beers with people on beeradvocate.com forum.

I really like the Trader Joe's Vintage Ale and it's only 5 bucks for 2 pints worth. Has a lot of flavor.

If you haven't you should check out the documentary Beer Wars. It was before the In Bev acquisition I think, but talks about how Budweiser hits small breweries with bogus lawsuits to run them out of business on legal costs, and how they produce the same beer in a million different packages(think 6,12,18,20,24,30 pack) to leave less shelf space available for the craft beers. Fortunately, unlike Nike, the industry seems to be trending towards the smaller companies.

Yeah I get the feeling that the small niche that has been cornered by craft brewers isn't going anywhere, but up. Sure you'll have people drinking Macros, but anyone that appreciates flavors will definitely choose Micro over Macro any day

i was pretty let down by these, i bought a sixer for thanksgiving and it just tasted like regular old sierra to me. i had the anchor steam holiday brew last year and i remember it being super tasty. so maybe i had my hopes too high expecting something very flavorful like the anchor was.

You and the D00D have turned this thread into a horrible head-on-collision between a short bus full of regular kids and a van full of paraplegics.
