Yeah. I figured if I could get used to it, I could used to anything.

Damn, that's what I like about it. Ales in general are going to be more bitter. Check out a good blonde ale(sorry I don't know any really). If you really can't get down, try some pilsners. Or, my wife fucking hates beer but she loves

It's pretty good and you can get it at bevmo or trader joes.

Guinness + Framboise

Good combo. Haven't had one in ages...

Like as a black and tan? I like fucking around with different stout IPA/pale ale combos. Black and tan definitely doesn't have to be relegated to Guinness and Bass.

Yea, exactly. here are some others, Blunt.

•Guinness + Bass Ale = Black & Tan
•Guinness + Harp Lager = Half & Half
•Guinness + Blue Moon = Black & Blue
•Guinness + Smithwicks = Blacksmith
•Guinness + Newcastle = Black Castle
•Guinness + Strongbow Cider = Black Velvet

FLOOP going HAM again!

apparently dogfish head worldwide stout and 120 minute ipa make a killer black & tan.

all of the lindemans fruit lambics are way too sweet for me, but i do like the cuvee renee. that's a gueuze, which is my favorite style, hands down. pretty sour and most are good to age up to 25 years

i've been trying more sours lately.  they're admittedly not my favorite style, but i want to see what all the fuss is about.  people seem to love them to death

I've found Boon Kriek to be a lot less sweeter than Lindemans or St Louis Kriek, so maybe try that if you can find it. To me it's too sour.

boon, hanssens and drie fonteinnen's krieks and framboise are pretty awesome, but IMO cantillon makes the best lambics. in fact, the best beers i've ever had were by them. it's too bad that they're so hard to find now in the US. a few years ago you could find it sitting on shelves.

Another good Black and Tan style for the East Coast

Guinness & Longtrail's Double Bag (Triple Bag if you can find it)= Cow Tipper
Guinness & Rouge Dead Guy = Black Death
Guinness & Magic Hat #9= Black Magic

lol, I just bottled an IPA that I dry-hopped with simcoe and amarillo hops and the hydrometer sample tasted and smelled like tropical fruit. I'm so stoked for it to carb up. I read somewhere that Pliny dry hops with that combo. I wish I could find RR stuff around my area. I guess I'll just make a clone one day to see what all the fuss is about.

Edit: I just remembered that it was Pliny the Younger that was dry-hopped with those hops. PTE had a lot more hop varieties involved.

My brother lives in Santa Rosa, it's an hour and a half north of here, so I'm heading up there May 4th with the intent of buying everything I can afford from the brewery. Wife gave me the ok.

Right now my favorite is

9.6%, super smooth. Should be out another month or so, I'm trying to stock up.

Don't drink an entire 6 of Undercover in one sitting. I feel like I don't have an ounce of water in my body.

that's hardcore.  i can drink, don't get me wrong.  but i'm getting old.

had my 1st Undercover last night.  enjoyed it.  it's definitely boozy.  almost 10 percent.  a 6 of those would make for an unpleasant next day for me, unless it was over the course of an all day session
