not really a traditional cruiser.... but with time in virus isolation, got in some tinkering with old stuff to make a new toy. inspired by peter hewitt insta clips.
old antihero eagle cut down, old early 80s trackers (axles are 5" wide), some fat penny wheels, and grip tape scraps, random bushings/bearings/hardware.
pretty fun so far....
Yeah, this is great. I'm liking the blunt nose and tapered tail, might have to steal that..
The striped grip is a nice idea too, I wouldn't have thought of that, really finishes off the classic look.
If only I didn't suck so much at cutting straight lines. Even with a straightedge..
That's the basic look I wanna go for but maybe more 60's looking? Skate trucks, narrower wheels for that skinny clay wheel look.

I've been coming across random Tracker info while geeking on tiny trucks.
I think the Dart and Classic hangers interchange or are the same. For the smaller sizes..
Difference is the baseplates, Dart probably has less KP angle (10* vs 15*?) for a less surfy, more stable feel. Iirc..
Were you talking about RTS/RTX in another thread? I'm curious if there's a KP angle difference there.

Seeing a decent amount of oj plain Jane key frames. I have some on my cruiser and I love them I’ve had them for a while. You can roll over anything with with them. I hear a lot about you can’t make them slide, but of course they don’t slide as well as hard wheels. You can still make them slide a little. I skated my cruiser around the skatepark Sunday morning right before it started raining and I didn’t feel like taking out my regular set up if it immediately started raining on me. I was doing lots of frontside nose slides without any resistance from the wheels. Also I like the wheels a lot for wall rides they do really grip the wall
[close]

That's weird you mention that, too-grippy wallrides are one of the main things making me want to swap my
OJ Keyframes to something harder. I get too gripped and can't skrt out of em how I like. I do love their smoothness though. Wondering if something in between 87a and 100a will be the best of both worlds, or if it'll just suck all around.

I know this is a while back but I haven't been in this thread for a while, but yeah I do like how they are are for wallrides. I feel like it holds the wall the entire carve. I do a lot of wallrides so it feels good on my regular formula fours too, but on the key frames it just feels light and different. This is a little clip from last Feburary when I skated the cruiser at my local on a really cold day (24 F°), but I do a wallride at 16 seconds and I feel like it holds the wall different than a really hard wheel that would slide alittle bit when you curving out.

I think building a cruiser will bring my spirits up in these stressful times..I started on a SMA a million years ago. I need some help from you guys. Did they ever do any reissues? This is the board I started on, anything close in at least the shape would be amazing.

alright, alright. Quick thoughts after a short ride to the bakery this morning.
I wear shoes size US11.5 so there is not that much space for foot placement. what doesn't need to be bad though. compared to my "tracker 108 set up" it feels less stable more like the whole board is going to fall over in quick turns. Didn't happen though. Just an unexpected powerslide  :P.

Overall I am hyped. If you find a pair of midtracks on eBay for 30-40 Bucks go get them!  ;D

My Heated Wheel type of thing. It's a 70s Hang Ten fibreglass 26.5x5.75 deck (Blender rides a Bahne that is pretty much the same). ACS 430 roller-skate trucks. Bones 78a 58mm roller-skate wheels.

Changed the bushings from standard Independent 92a to Khiro orange 79a in front and a softer than 92a old Tracker on rear with Independent on top. And stuck some washers on to widen the track of the wheels. Rides a lot better than before.

That thing is tight. Past couple pages inspired me to pull this one out.

Using it as my dogwalking set up for now.

It looks like it has a little kicktail?

If so, it's a G&S standardflex kicktail 27" from 1976. A rare board, could be worth a bit.

That was quick! Impressive. Was trying to find the exact year. Yeah it has a lil kicktail, was my uncs and he gifted it to me when I was younger.  Part of me feels like I should keep it preserved on the wall but the other part of me is stoked that a 44 year old toy can still provide so much fun. Amazed the bushings haven’t turned to dust.

I'd be torn on what to do with that thing too. I'm sure it's worth $$$ but the sentimental value and fun factor.. yeah, I'd use it to roll around but just being careful to not run into stuff.

On a side note..
I've got a hand me down Powell Quicktail 69cm. Yep, the aluminum one with a tiny kick tail.
Fairly good condition, still has griptape. Anyone know what it's worth?

The Quicktails are worth more than the more common Quicksilvers, which were a slalom board with no kicktail. The only one that's sold when I search on USA Ebay went for an offer less than $700, but can't see the exact amount. It had the original Bones wheels from the 70s, and Trackers, which would probably go for around $200 max, so it's got to be a $300 deck, and the Ebay one wasn't in very good condition.

Are you in France, I think I recall you are? Not as many collectors there. I used to follow French Ebay and buy stuff that I could sell for more in the UK, where there's a bigger market. Need to stick on Ebay USA to get the best price.

Oh nice! Thanks for the info. I wasn't sure but I know collector prices are pretty crazy so was hoping for a $200-300. I'm in the states so ebay looks like the thing to do.
The marks from the trucks are weird. I need to check again but I remember it being more diamond shaped.
I wanna try it out to see how stiff it is. Narrowest trucks I have are 129's so it's gonna look ugly. I'll try to get pics.

I live in Malmö, Sweden. No hills at all here. Is there a big difference between 78D and 80D wheels? Thinking about Spitfire 80D and I just want to go fast but of course I need those powerslides.

80D sucks, stay away from those. Get some Ricta clouds.
What duro clouds you recommend. I have 80d on my Cruiser and I’m not super stoked on them

You're not going to power slide on Rictas unless it's the 101a. Those are still pretty hard for cruising. If you want a nice ride, but want to break loose on slides, find something around 97a durometer.
