I can't switch backtail big spin for some reason. I can 270 out and heelflip, but big spin is hard as hell.

never bothered with tre flips because whenever i tried them id just get a "varial double flip effect" but on saterday i started flicking my back foot ina weird way that i havnt tried before and now i get the perfect flip every time, only problem is i cant get my back foot on. hopefully ill finally have them soon, it seems like tre flip is the new kickflip
[close]

Im gonna take your advice because i also do some kind of varial double kickflip when i try 360 flips. I still cant do backside 180s, i think i have to get more comfortable in the switch position. How long does it usually take to learn how to push switch? i feel like mongo switch has lost its nostalgia.

Just push switch a lot. It's not that hard. I started skating switch maybe a year ago and now have a decent switch push. Though I have a stronger desire to push with my back foot than to push with the stronger foot. Switch pushing + turning is still harder but switch mongo + turning would be even more awkward for me.

learn switch bigspin on flat first, it should be easy, then.

I'm in the process of relearning everything.  I probably won't bother with flip tricks for a while, but I'm taking this chance to learn things I left out (I have a lot more patience for skating now than when I was younger).  Way earlier people were posting about switch wallrides.  I did a switch carve at china banks ages ago.  I admit it's nowhere near a proper switch wallride (not even the same ball park) and all my friends were drinking beer in the park by the time I landed it but I felt like I won the lottery when I did.

Switch carve at China banks is nothing to sneeze at - assuming you did it over the bench, that's actually sketchier than just doing a regular switch wallride. You go on & be proud...: )

There was no bench involved.

Hardflips. Never learned them. Can do switch ones, nollie ones, but regular ones are the bane of my existence. Bummer since I always wanted them like Mike C.

i'm finding i have to re-learn nearly everything after skating on and off for the past 5 years and not at all for the last 2. for some reason tailslides and backside grinds on ledges have become difficult. i'm confident i'll get everything back, it's just frustrating right now. the one flip trick that always eluded me was frontside heelflips. i used to have them switch, but never even came close regular. they might have to be a new goal for this year.

I'm the same way. every once in a while I'll land a regular hardflip, but it's only when someone does it in skate.

my backside flips are so regular.  I have had frontside flips down pretty well for years, but my backside flips are like varial flips that I turn my body with.  crop dusted and usually pivoted, and I almost always stop completely when I land them.

Switch/Nollie flips. I never dedicate enough tries to them. I try like four times then just go skate something other than flat.

I can do 'em, but a regular kickflip will never be my cup of tea.
Going into to business with Vallely is the skateboarding equivalent of starting a land war in Asia, just don't.

I can do front shoves but I am so bad at them. They don't even pop sometimes.  I can hardflip so much better than front shoves somehow.

I've never gotten a back 50-50 on anything much higher than a curb. My body just spazzes out when I try.  ???

Ollies.
WAIT... Let me elaborate.
I can do ollies, it's just.... See, I learned how to ollie riding super duper tight trucks back in the day. I had them down pretty good. I remember even ollieing over a cone one time that was just a little bit under waist high (which was the highest thing I have ever ollied even to this day).
But eventually, as I kept skating through the years, my trucks got looser and looser, and as they got looser I had to kinda relearn almost all of my tricks on looser trucks, just because it was so different from riding super tight. I pretty much have all of my tricks down now on looser trucks and im pretty much too used to doing all of my tricks on looser trucks now, but one trick that continues to suffer from my change in riding looser is ollies. I can still do them, but they're so low and dragged out feeling now, as opposed to before when I used to be able to float them. The highest I can ollie right now would be about knee high, and even then I have to work for them to get them that high. If its anything over knee high I start having trouble making it over the obstacle. I can do some pretty damn high kickflips and front shoves, but for some reason I cannot pop high ollies. When I step on my friends board who has super tight trucks I can still do some super high ones, but when im back on my board they suffer again.

Back 50-50's.
Regular 180's frontside and backside. I can do them, but not well or effortlessly...
Must put some time into getting them good.

Then... Must learn 5-0's, tailslides, and get smith grinds back.

too many, but which really bothers me not being able to do them in a good way are fs flips, fs shuvits, fs nollies (can basically do them, but somehow nollie fs 360s seem easier even..), anything with switch kickflip, tho i remember even doing them smaller gaps when i was 14, pretty weird how you can simply forget anything about a trick.. oh yeah and bs smiths and fs feebles, if i go really really fast and just jump on the rail i may grind for short time, but i simply cannot lock in
i think i pretty much fucked up on alot of basics, because i tended to pause for atleast 3 weeks every 4 months since i was 17
