Are you actually comparing learning a Romance-language (Spanish) speaker learning another Indo-European language (English) that is in fact a lingua franca with a vocabulary that's 70% Latin-based, to a native English speaker trying to learn an entirely unrelated Asian language?

no. all i am saying is that i believe true language fluency cannot be obtained in any language in six months. in six months i believe you can become proficient and fairly conversational, but in no way truly fluent in the language. and i am not a native english speaker, i am a native spanish speaker, who learned english when i moved to the states as a kid. this whole conversation is dumb though, i just wanted to give David Gonzalez the props for doing something alot of people haven't.

plus english is supposedly the hardest language to learn.

I'm going with Tyrone. According to everything I have read on learning english (I work in schools with high english language learner populations, so I have been required to read a lot about it) it takes far more than 6 months to be fluent or even close to fluent. You can become conversational, but there are all sorts of barricades that make even that difficult.
