Anyone get down to axle purely (or at least mostly) from ledge skating? I assume most of these are from curbs or coping. No shade, I was just wonder if it was possible since I think it would take next level patience to do that.
i only got the back truck with thunders. i used to be a thunder guy ages 14-18, every single pair would last me like a year, then i would hit axle on the back truck and almost immediately the hanger would crack around it, like the axle would be the only thing keeping the hanger together. at that point i would retire them.
if you count hitting axle from crooked grinds then i had it happen on all brands that i've skated since i learned them, so that would be silver, thunder, ace (classics) and venture. aces would take the longest.
i
might have some the old hangers at my parents' home, i'll check the next time i go there
most of the grinding that counts for something was on angle iron ledges. the decent street ledges here that you can actually skate for longer than 2 minutes are made of this weird orange plastic that has a texture that resembles wood, but isn't. it grinds well but i feel like the trucks wear that away faster than the other way around. there's also one granite ledge and one marble ledge in my city. so yeah like 90% angle iron.
