just came back from the chino premiere. finally got to watch the whole thing. here's a late-ass quick round-up: heath's old footy, the joy division song, his new footage, the line, the mega-ramp sendoff, it was just classic. great, great stuff. there really is no way you could say anything bad about brandon westgate. skates fast, kills everything, so much pop. pretty much the future, imo. i really enjoyed herman's flip nosemanual and bench footage. felt 90s-ish and he absolutely killed it. (the waits song fit so well.) starting his street stuff with that nollie 360 flip was insane. great part. after this, the vid got a bit stale and repetitive to me. the young guys (marquise, jamie, colin, and figgy) all rip, but their non-style and handrail overkill got a bit old. (even my girl who was right next to me, texted me saying this section was boring.) that and the abundance of riffy, 70s style stoner, psyche shit made things feel a bit boring. i appreciated what spanky was trying to do, but felt he didn't get as gnarly as he should've at the spots he was skating. i liked that sf line + his la high stuff, but maybe he needed more lines or something. i dunno. suski was a real standout for me. loved his stuff. he outdid himself for sure. braydon also put out a solid part. i think his tall, lanky style is rad and his bench/tech stuff was nice to see. seeing it a second time made me appreciate jerry's footage so much more. the intro was nice once it ended with that smile. all the switch shit was short, but epic. can't wait to see more jerry footy in the near future. i dunno what it is, but i always kinda hated on leo. im from fontana, have homies who were in a skate crew with him, shit, my gf used to kick it with him. and i used to think his rail skating was just too much (gipper style) but i couldn't wait to see this part. he upped his game big-time, his style is cleaner and he just kills everything. i felt so hyped on him once the ender was over. dude's a fucking madman. soty contendor for sure. reynolds skates perfectly. at his age, he dropped the best part of his career. i don't know how, but he did it. the board looks like it's glued to his feet when he ollies & does back 3s. his giant flip tricks are bolts all the time and his lines are fucking beautiful. deserved last part, no doubt. now im gonna smoke some chron and watch this thing again.
(all i need is that heath part now. any luck out there?)
