The problem is that eS isn't trying to be different enough. They make the same shoes over and over again with subtle variations. How many times are they going to do the koston 1 'E' style panel on the side? k1, Scheme, Sword, Sirio, and now the Silo. How many shoes are they going to make that look like an accel? Accel, accelerate, swift, squares, etc. Im a huge fan of eS and almost anything designed by frank boistel but c'mon. I understand brand identity but make some new designs that have no connection to stuff made in the past.. 100% original designs that define THIS era of skating.
If you look back at a lot of shoes from 1998-2004, you will see many variations on a handful of themes. That's how it goes. How many Dunk-esque or Half-Cab-esque designs have you seen from basically every company? At least eS is staying within their own developed design language.
Also, as you can see, this Silo shoe is using the same tooling (midsole/outsole) as the Scheme. So good for them, double dipping to be able to afford the Scheme molds. Midsole/Outsole molds are expensive to open up for a full production run, so this just makes good business sense for a brand that might be struggling a bit.
