I swear people make the most random comparisons with shoes. Boys see a new Chuck Taylor and say that it looks like an airmax. (I’ve read stupid shit like that tbh.) Other than the weldings (which have been done to death before) what do they have in common? Mesh sidewalls/tongue arent anything new either. Believe me, ain’t nobody looking at supra to bite designs... also, that rapidweld thing was done already in Ave’s previous shoe that came out way before that Supra.

Do you know if they're still doing the original all white and all black colorways that he posted photos of? Those looked so sick, and honestly do the shoe better justice than the two new colorways

Pretty sure they will, seems like every vans signature model has a black/white and white/black pair to come out. Dumb of them to no produce those colorways.

Love how the shoes skate, but for every good color that comes out, an awful one does too. They're clearly keeping the sole clear since every model has had a clear one so you'd think that they'd consider that in the design. The upper of these is fine and I get why people would like it. It's the overlap of clear sole and brown upper that looks awful.

It’s such a good shoe, and yeah, looks fucked, too often.
At this point there has been way more misses than hits on colorways. I feel like I’ve seen max 4 that’s were good.

The ones with the black vans stripe? I don’t think so, it was like the first 4 launch colorways I think. So far, I’ve only seen the black/white and the white/black pair restock.

I’m skating the black/smoke pair now, but most of the colorways look like shit. Especially those Grey/yellow ones. Looks good on the Williams OG/Slim but not the AVE pro.

Surprised there hasn’t been an FA collab with the shoe yet.

I have to wonder if Kyle Walker actually wanted that shoe of his or if Van's is just trying a weird design out with his name because he's such a forgivable personality. It's possible they look good from the top down but i doubt it the positioning on that strap bothers me.

I do kinda hate laces so if they skate really good I'd be tempted to grab a pair after my 112 mids are cooked but the AVEs look about 100x better

Slip-On Pros are my favorite skate shoe. They’re super comfy and way better insole than the Janoski. You may be pleasantly surprised.

The construction on a Vans slip on pro is way better than the Janoski. The Janoski is basically a sole with a thin upper attached to it. Padding is minimal even for that type of shoe. Slip on pros are little plastic booties and will last a much longer time. All that and the insoles are much nicer.

My issue is the insole.  It’s way too fat to actually be able to slip them and when they’re on, I can feel the strain against the elastic.  They fit perfectly length wise

Want to try a pair of slip on pros with popcush but the vans site doesn’t tell you yet. Like the all white colorway should be getting updated with pop. Tactics designates which.

Ive never had a vans with a wafflecup sole. I don’t like skating in vulcs at all. Should I avoid the Crockett? I kinda want to try those high tops but I won’t bother if they don’t skate like a cupsole.

I usually skated cupsoles like nb 533 v2 because of my feet but then I tried the wafflecup and it works. More boardfeel while proper support. Had the Crockett 2 and Walker 1 and 2 and they are solid.  I am not jumping down more than a 5 stair occasionally though. Will def check those gilby highs.

I have the same issue. I just fold and bend them a lot before I put them on. They wear in, in a couple days. Totally worth the trouble.

Same. The ultracush seems too big for the shoe. It bulges out around the heel. Too phat. I love slip ons and I think I’m gonna try the emerica g6 slip next.

I kind of get this.. I think its the lack of laces. Laces give shoes volume and texture. They also make pants look a hell of a lot better on top of the shoe imo. To me, slip ons only make sense with tight pants or highwaters, neither of which I wear. Otherwise they're just dainty little nubs lost under the drape of your pants. Janoskis have laces and the kwalks have the strap which fill that space that helps make the shoes look like a 'shoe'.

Writing "Pier 7" on a shoe that doesn't have any relevance to Pier 7 is pretty dumb. Nobody has fond memories of Welsh (or anyone else) skating those shoes at Pier 7.

Indeed, and I think Welsh, Lakai, and Pier 7 are a great combo worth marketing. There's a lot of nostalgia to tap into. Makes it all the more disappointing.
