Ellington is awesome, but I wonder if this Li-ning thing is going the way of K-Swiss where we never even see a shoe drop.
For real though, anybody that's skating in crazy shoes like Ellington or Lucian Clarke, do you really put those on and think they're gonna skate better than a skate shoe? I suppose if you have the clout to go to a luxury brand and say "Yeah lets do a skate thing" then I would be chasing the money too.

 I'm really keen to try a pair of lakai but can't decide to pull the trigger on a model. Always between the Atlantic, Newport hi (blazer stand in), Manchester cup and now the Carroll.

Anyone know if they run true to size? I'm an 8 in Vans + Adidas but usually round up to 8.5 for Nike.

Looks like it! I've seen a few pro Sk8 lo's popping up in shops recently, and it looks like there are whole bunch of colours being added to the classic range this year and next too.

Lucien Clarke is at least skating LV sneakers that are designed after skate shoes or skateable basketball shoes. Ellington’s choices of Li-Ning shoes to skate in is just mindblowingly weird. He’s picking the least skateable models (just looked at their site and they have maybe like 5 models that look sightly skateable) they’ve got and looking like one of those weird Instagram skaters.

I'm an 8 as well and I have the newport's in an 8. I would say they run true to size but if you got an 8.5 and they are a little long you can lace them all the way up and they should be secure. Although, I've had shoes in the exact same style and size yet they fit differently. I guess it's a little of the luck of the draw.
