I read that the Crockett Highs fit narrow, is this true? I wear Louie's shoe to skate in which takes some time for my wide feet to break in. Probably not more narrow that the L.L. Cons right?

I run TTS in Crocketts high. I also don't experience them as narrow, they feel wider than a blazer to me. Currently wearing  (Whatever vans is calling the skate line these days) Half Cab in 9.5 and they feel more snug than Crockett highs.

Hope this doesn’t add to the confusion but I wear an 11 in pretty much all skate shoes but i go for a 10.5 in crockett highs. they feel too long in my TTS and i find they break in perfectly after one day in a half size down. On my 2nd pair now and i’m still loving them!!

Man I’m really into both these color ways and loving the rowans I’m skating even though I’m a cupsole kind of guy. I really like  the classic vans navy/royal blue colorway they do and this just hits different. Gonna have to cop I think.

It really seems like Gill is his own shoe marketing team.  They seem really popular amongst this thread and I’ve seen more than a few pairs on local peoples feet’s but there but there is hardly a presence on Vans social media or ads (that I've seen). These seem to be in demand, Vans would blow it taking them out.

Gil seems to do what Rowley does and heavily feature their pro models on their IG (which I guess one could make the case that this is what they should be doing).  Rowley features a handful of unreleased colorways on his IG

I vaguely remember Gilbert saying something like the high wasn’t originally planned. I think it was something like they made some samples for him, people asked about them a lot, and he convinced them to start producing more but since they weren’t originally planned, they didn’t have much in terms of marketing budget so they told him he’s responsible for marketing them himself. So that’s why hes been really aggressive with them on IG.

Not sure how that impacts the inconsistency of producing them but it has to be related.

I mean, they’re the best skate shoes Vans has produced in years.  It’s absolutely idiotic that they’re not promoting the hell out of these.  If they stop producing them, I might be done with Vans for good.

I doubt the Crock High is going anywhere. The constructions and panels are pretty different.

The Lizzie looks from photos and descriptions we've heard from shops to be a vulcanized shoe, and the Crock High is a the wafflecup hybrid. Also hers is a blutcher construction (think like a Sk8-Hi opening at the base of the tongue, allows the shoe to potentially open up more because there is nothing bridging the two eyerows) and the Crock High is like the low, a "U-throat" construction that connects the eyerows...

Might seem semantic, but both constructions create really different fits in shoes I've had over the years.

They are the regular superstar outsoles. The adv you’re thinking about is the Vulc and was discontinued maybe 2 years ago. The current superstar adv is pretty much the regular one, just updated for skating. thinner tongue, better insole, better materials… Kader’s is most likely that version.

No, the new superstar adv has a different sole than the originals. The soles you mentioned are the older ones which were vulc. But there is still a difference between the skate superstar sole and the originals sole. The skates are a softer rubber but still cupsole.

They ain’t opening new molds (huge investment) just for a couple colorways of the skateboarding one. They are most likely assembled at the same factory too. All they did was reduce the padding in the tongue, make the upper in pig suede instead of leather and put a better insole. If they feel different to you it’s most likely other factors and not the actual outsole.

Buy both pairs and compare yourself but it is 100% fact that they look the same but use different materials and have slight variations between the two. They even look different in the pics you posted, they are minor differences but the difference is more obvious when you have them side by side in person.

You don’t have to agree with me but I do use these products a lot and pay very close attention to detail. If u were to skate both you would notice these difference even more. The ADV sole has better board feel and grip because it’s thinner and uses a softer rubber but gets floppier faster than the originals. Where as the original soles are thicker but will last longer and hold their shape longer than the ADV.

Have you ever skated both pairs and compared them?

All they did was reduce the padding in the tongue, make the upper in pig suede instead of leather and put a better insole. If they feel different to you it’s most likely other factors and not the actual outsole.

They look the same but they use a different rubber and it’s thinner. I’m 100% positive, they feel different and if u hold them side by side the shell on the skates are not as bulky as the originals. Buy both pairs and compare yourself but it is 100% fact that they look the same but use different materials and have slight variations between the two. They even look different in the pics you posted, they are minor differences but the difference is more obvious when you have them side by side in person.

You don’t have to agree with me but I do use these products a lot and pay very close attention to detail. If u were to skate both you would notice these difference even more. The ADV sole has better board feel because it’s thinner but gets floppier faster than the originals where the original soles are thicker but will last longer and hold their shape longer than the ADV.

the biggest question I have is what insole do you use for these? Outside of the Adiprene, your insoles are not that comfy

I believe the insole on the ADV is a basic eva insole that doesn’t offer much more protection than the originals. Nothing like the that old adiprene insole used for the vulcs.
I run them stock cause I’m not an aftermarket insole kinda guy but have been tempted to try some
