Funny you should say they’re not Nike. I was told by a DC rep a few years ago (no longer the rep now) that the head of DC wanted to make the brand more trendy and get into the sneakerhead market. Which makes sense why they’re trying to do these limited OG Lynx.

Anyone remember the DC E.Tribeca? DC went all in on that one. Did a lot of marketing and really tried to get into that sneakerhead market on different sneaker sites. Big flop!

I really like these. My favorite Half-Cab variations are the simple solid colors like these or the Reynolds ones and I hope this trend continues.

If I’m correct, Ripped Laces reported that Gravis made a short comeback or at least continued in Japan for a bit and had a team. Did they stop right after or was it similar to how eS is still kinda around but you tend to forget it is and that they have a team?

But, I DID compare the descriptions for the Skate half cab and the Skate half cab '92s on the Vans site, and they seem to be the same revamped half cab model, just with a different name that's potentially based on colourways...? (EDIT - the '92 style is mainly based the stitching/toe cap design, just remembered)

Look at the toecap on those vintage ones from 1993-1996 though. It's a split toecap instead of the unified toecap that came in late 96 or 1997. But then from 1997 until recently that unified toecap was the only Half Cab we got, which developed over time into the Classics form (the one you just linked to) and eventually in the Half Cab pro form and other such Vault and whatnot variations (which isn't dissimilar from any other brand that has a bunch of versions of a classic shoe, like Adidas Superstars or Nike Bruins)

Anyways, with its overlay toecap, the "Skate Half Cab '92" is the most correct to what it was for the first roughly 4 years right?
