might be a weird question - is the alexis sole gummier than the fastbreaks?

Skating the AS-1 right now. I always go half size down for the CTAS but went TTS for these and it’s perfect. Great feeling shoe and quick to break in. Only downside is the toe box does blow out pretty quickly.

You can half size down, I’d still recommend trying them on, cause despite that fact I still got the 10.5 cause my feet swell up sometimes

I’m in between a 12 and 11.5 and have slightly wide feet. Got the 11.5s and they fit perfectly.

Owner of an identically sized and shaped pair of stompers over here. For the longest time I just bought 12s for everything, and over the years I've learned how much sizing varies between shoe brands, just like with shirts. When I started paying better attention to my skate gear, I noticed that some shoe brands left a lot of space at the very front of the shoe for me in a size 12, and that made me think about sizing down, so that the very front of the shoe was closer to my toes. Maybe that would lead to a better flick.

Then the exact opposite thing happened when I tried on a pair of Tyshawn Mids, and was told to size up because they ran small. Their 12s fit me perfectly, with no extra space at the very front of the shoe. So I stocked up on those the way everyone else has stocked up on the Tiagos (808 or 1010).

Saw it my feed but forgot which shop, blue Rowley 1 with the new pro insole…which feels blasphemous in a way.

I also wonder what the deal with these Rowley’s are.   It’s like a secret line that is only dealt to a few shops and no one tells the main skate line what’s going on

Expected a much bigger deal to be made of these shoes in like 2019 for the 20 year anniversary but I guess they're just doing one every six months or so. Remembering how bad the soles were on the og I don't even think they could sell them these days without some kind of insole included.

Only Airwalk riders/flow dudes skated the Jason Lees when they were out

There were a bunch of similar but slightly cooler shoes on the skate shop walls at that time. Now there are maybe no shoes out that look and feel how skate shoes did in 1994-98 or so. When they try, they seem to miss the mark every time (e.g. the current iterations of the eS Accel and Etnies Rap). If they did a proper J Lee reissue today (with good suede, the correct puff level, etc.), it would stand out on the shop wall because there wouldn't be a KCK and a Sal 23 right next to it.

I also think there are fewer shoes with subtle or minimal branding, for example the JLees only had the a on the back. They were still very recognizeable by the two stripes on the sole but shoes in general were less branded which made them cooler in my opinion. Today we have LRAB doing the minimal branding, but thats not a (semi) puffy cupsole as the shoes were back then. I love NB but I wish they made some models without the N on the sidewall haha.

I wear a US 8.5 in the Tiago 1010 (9 in the 880) and tried the same in the Alexis but it felt long but narrow. Basically wondering if they stretch out a bit width-wise, because half or a whole a size down would be the move for sure on length.

Just started wearing mine. Get a half size down. These are about the same width as fastbreaks (wider than chucks and one stars). The insole seemed a little firm in the ball of the foot, but I can tell that will go away with more wear

Kinda got more going on and more sources of income than most brands so it definitely makes sense. It’s simple business and isn’t that weird, if you grow and cater to your customers they will buy your products. I would also barely call this maintaining a shoe line but I bet they’ve done their consumer research and know how pairs of these they can sell. Pretty sure they ran a pre-order in the past for a previous version or something like that.
