What’s to hate?    I like this collab between Adidas/MLS/local shop.    The No comply jersey was almost great, but this is an amazing jersey flat out.    Curious what other cities are next

How many more MLS/shop collabs are coming out? Kinda wierd (but also kinda not) how the shoe companies are trying to link soccer to skating. Around the Olympics it was like they realised they have skateboarders as athletes now but didn't know what to do with them so sometimes just lumped them in with the soccer team.

Is MIA still going? Feel like the Messi/Miami popularity would be worth doing something with. (Altho they would of had to plan this out some time ago)

The weird/cool thing is linking MLS teams with local shops, at least Adidas has always tied the skate program with soccer. For some reason I still have a Raul Navarro/western edition Spain shirt.

I can totally see a pink/black tyshawn low but I think MIA is done

I can’t really think of a definitive LA shop that would work.  (Plus if you’re from LA long enough, you should probably do Galaxy) / plus it’s cool to see smaller teams get some shine.

I had the discussion with my friend and I think Val Surf or Kingswell. It would just kinda become a “what’s a big store near the shop” type of thing.

Also, I’ve been in LA 90% of my life. But I started getting into soccer at the start of the team. Which annoys a lot of older Salvadoran people based off the fact that one of the bigger player in our history played for them.

Yeah name-wise Brooklyn Projects would be a weird choice to represent LA.   LAFC would make more sense for Kingswell, based of demographics of customers and fan base.   

I’m more of Galaxy man bc of Gerrard and being white in an age when Chivas was the other LA team, but I’d wear LAFC stuff.   I don’t have any real emotions tied into it like i do with crosstown basketball and my loathing for the clippers

I’m all for the Dodgers and Mookie is my favorite but Shoeih is something else.

Pirates were my little league team, so I grew up a Bonds fan who hated the Braves, followed him over to Giants bc it was easier to get Giants gear in CA in the pre-internet days.   As OC/CA local, I had a passing like of California Angels bc Bo Jackson was there for the one year I would have cared, but hated them bc of 2002 World Series.   I know Dodgers are the actual rivals of the Giants, but I’m not some old New Yorker and that rivalry does nothing for me.   I’ll wear an LA hat just because I don’t really get into baseball that much and I feel like after you’ve been in a city for at least a decade, you can wear the baseball hat as just an emblem of the city and not necessarily the sports team.

I skated a pair of the Gillete Dover and I really liked it. Held up much better than I expected and the insole is really comfy and takes impact. I would totally skate them again if they were cheaper.

Alright I pulled the trigger, the leather feels soft and flexible, the only other pair of smooth leather shoes I’ve skated were super stiff

The "rubber layer under the toe" in mid-90s Etnies was about as thin as a latex glove. It maybe protected you for one more ollie.

 If they spent some money and did like an “og line” with like 4-6 original models updated like the gamma and snake and use the history behind them to bring it around to skating today they could get some money and market presence back.

 Unfortunately soletech is allergic to money and good ideas .

Agreed! The Snakes would been sick with a better insole (STI performance level 1/2), and some underlays for durability. I guess it would throw off the 1to1 reissue vibes but these woulda also been amazing on the OG Marana sole they are running on the MC Rap.

If the Gamma is doing so well why is on sale for $22 on their site? It seems to have an oddly pointy shape and friends that have skated them said they feel as if the shape is odd a materials wear/feel cheap.

But otherwise I'd agree for Etnies. A thin SLB23 would theoretically do well these days.

I've also been complaining forever that they need to use some of their old logos instead of that Mike V motocross looking arrow E. Bummer it's still on the sole but at least it's not on the upper.

The colourways are super confusing. Why would you reissue a classic shoe in what seems to be a pretty original form and then make a bunch of terrible new colours in it? Then again we're talking about SoleTech sooo.... The black with white sole will do it for me though. Very nostalgic about that era of Etnies as that's right when I started skating.

Don't mind a reissue being slimmed down a bit but they put that random sole on there and then added a perforated panel to every single model, and usually a 93 or whatever on the heel. I think some of their old logos wouldn’t pass muster copyright wise.   There was the Target logo (maybe Emerica) and the Fila logo  -  but I do 100% agree

I am skating my rap highs right now, the sole is great and it has a much better toe shape than the accel og, but as Watson said it’s a far cry from a white rap with black sole. Hopefully they can just make it into a rap from a Mac rap and have it be all suede.

And I remember my friend that I started skating with coming into the deli that I worked at with those snakes on when we were freahmen. Good memories and love that Etnies logo on the tongue. I don’t know if there is a midsole in the new snakes but I will be grabbing a pair to skate and then add to my soletech collection of reissues
