the HUF team was really cool. Skaters like Joey Pepper would've never had a pro shoe i feel if it wasn't for a brand like HUF. they also has those really cool stoops tours in Europe and in Asia. and those team edits were awesome. glad they're still a clothing brand. RIP HUF

Same especially the early stuff everybody now hates (Morton, derby, choice, southern, pepper etc)
Just a couple days ago rewatched all the old edits (and gravis and es stuff from that time) super unpopular opinion right now but I think that kinda 2010-2014 period was peak in a lot of ways. (Obvs sucked in many ways too tho)

Jimmy's shoe could easily be an Emerica. I wonder if Slap would shit on the design more or less with their logo?

My aging knees strongly disagree. It felt like at one point every company was doing the same thing with minor tweaks, those slim shoes with no arch support. Personally (and I know there are a lot of people who will disagree) I think we're in the best era of footwear right now. The variety of shoes is immense.

Not to start an argument or anything because right now is really good too but there actually was a ton of variety back then too. While you had the thin plain stuff everyone remembers there were also a ton of interesting tech cupsole stuff (with designs that actually worked not just pointless throwback bells and whistles) es scales, DC pj Ladd's, cole light 1,2,3, Kalis centric, wolf, Matt miller's. Nb had real good tech shoe from the start, obvs Adidas Silas and Nike had sick shit.
Maybe stuff now feels like more variety for all people and back then it seemed more divided or something tho

I get that but back in those glory Huf days I was skating a lot less from being in college and my body/legs were not picky about shoes or cared enough about tech. Was young and my body could handle a lot lol

I wore those HR-1's everyday in the winter for walking to class and when nice enough would skate around in the Choice. Team was amazing and fun to follow with their edits/tours.

Now my knees/ankles have been trough it and am feeling the effects of aging so of course their best sellers back then wouldn't cut it for me now. But I got a lot of love and nostalgia for their shoes and if they were still around and retro-ed any of those old vulcs I would still cop as chillers. I do agree that we might be in the best skate shoe era as my trunk is filled with a variety of cupsoles from different brands  ;D

That is wild he got a pro shoe. I don't think it did anything in the market but I thought they looked chill and better than the HUF shoes with a giant "H" on the side. Kudos for HUF giving a lot of people pro shoes like Ramondetta, Cromer and of course Dylan.

The Huf 1984 is my #1 favorite skate show of all time. Wish I had kept a pair but they were too good not to destroy.

I don't think the Adidas from back in that day compare to what exists in the market now. They're largely still using the same tech and shoes, which typically are solid foam or minimal minsoles with uppers that wear fairly fast. The TJ came out around the same time as the 1010 and doesn't come remotely close in terms of modern design. I tried a few of those cup options out and they were basically flimsier versions of older, bulkier cups with generic solid foam and zero arch support or heel cupping.

Rowan 2s are up on black sheep.

https://blacksheepskateshop.com/products/vans-rowan-2-vcu-chocolate-black

For whatever reason these look more like the original Rowan’s but a cup and more tech than the other photos. I couldn’t pull this colorway off but I like it more than other Rowan 2 colors so far

We’re entering a weird era in the world. Minimum wage is still fucking 7.25. Vans has 0 technology that they can put in a shoe that is worth $110.

That's pretty pricey for a shoe with just a new sole slapped on it. I'll gladly wait for next week and spend the extra $10 for the XLTs.

Hell yeah brethren I got a list of all the skate shops that could have the XLTs and I’m buying doubles shoot maybe even triples.

this

The rising prices began to trick me a long time ago too. $75 is still not a steal for a pair of shoes that I’m going to blow through and when I’m shopping clearance I have to remind myself of this.

Adidas is dropping a $500 marathon racing shoe soon that was worn while shattering the women’s world record over the weekend

as a consumer, I’m going to flex the infinitely minute power that I have and buy what’s still reasonable.

I think part of the price with those crazy new marathon shoes is also how few pairs they actually sell. It's been a little while since I did distance running but when I did there were still not that many people who'd go and grab the craziest expensive shoes.
I don't even see how people could get into them. Generally people would buy a pair of shoes wear it once to kinda get used to it, run a marathon and chuck them out. I can't see how you'd just suddenly run a marathon in an entirely different type of shoe to what you're used to.

Nothing on vans is worth over $100. My honest opinion vans asking for more that $90 is a reach on any of their shoes

Not sure why someone would pick these over some NB 1010's for that price, that VR3 Cush shit sucks and that toe box looks narrow as hell, love Rowan but easy pass
