I dislike the heel triangle thing on the Lucas.
Takes away from the design.

It’s the signature design element of the whole shoe. Allows you to instantly identify it as a Puig from a mile away, which is probably the point.

Are these in here already? I actually really like this shoe (except the questionable durability), it skates great.

does the Alexis fit TTS or is it that Cons go a half size down thing?

Has anyone who has skated these get or close to getting blisters on the ball of your feet? The break in was fine outside of a couple of sessions where this was happening

Not in my case but I got a mean Achilles tendon pain.
Sir, I'm going to politely, but firmly, ask you and your common sense to leave this establishment.

Such an uncomfortable pos.

It may look tempting, as it’s a beautiful looking shoe, but it’s god awful. If anyone dare brave skating it I suggest switching out the stock insole.

Pretty hyped on that new colorway! I had zero issues skating the AS-1, for an $80 cupsole, I thought it was a good balance of price/durability.

Any word on upcoming suede Terrace colorways?

The white/navy suede looks really good

I wonder if the midsole on that new ludlow shoe will have a real Eva midsole or if it’s another “cupsole”

Here are Ludlows specs

Really wanted to like the Terrace but I found it to be painfully tight around my forefoot in a bad way. Just don’t think my foot shape works with it unfortunately

The Alexis is TTS in my experience but hilariously narrow. One of the only shoes I've tried on where the shop staff/riders have actively warned me against buying it which sucks because I like her and the shoe.

The main thing I didn't like about them when trying on is that the collar and sole are nice and cushioned but the tongue has absolutely nothing in it and is just a flat and floppy piece.

lakais are so ugly and boring there's absolutely no reason to buy/support them when there's so many better options available. even when it comes to core brands, I don't see any incentive to cop a pair of slight variations of the same shoe from lake when dc and even sole tech put more effort into their designs. not that sole tech is even the best example of that, but lakais are that bland and uninteresting now. sucks because lakai has so many cool designs in the vault that they absolutely refuse to reissue

No clue why the hell AS-1 tongue is so painfully thin. We don't need paper thin tongues and it bothers me how many brands do this. It's like they want you to hurt the top of your foot when tying your laces  ::)

Anyone skate the Adidas Copa Premiere’s? On their site the red ones are $56 with free shipping for members (free to sign up). I grabbed them cause I like the look. Figure even if I get a month out of them it’s worth it for the price.

@art hellman

the Copa Premiere are the price-point version of the skate Copa...still a nice shoe, but the skate Copa is fantastic.  even the skate Copa Nationale is not as nice/well made as the original skate Copa shoe.

For what it’s worth, the original model was “Copa Nationale” as well. That’s why I’m wondering what the actual difference is in the upper build because it’s clearly the same mid/outsole tooling. Looks like it doesn’t have the same overlay on the heel counter with the Premiere.

the first two versions have a way better sole/sidewall (and still the og version being the best materials), then it seemed like they started skimping on the upper, and now the copa premiere (most recent version) does NOT have the same mid/outsole tooling (although it is designed to look like it does), even the internal cushioning is thinner.

nike made some fantastic shoes, early 2000s, more since, but as a skate line, the early stuff had great materials.
adidas has had a few different eras of shoes that were noticeably nicer.
imo, rn, nb has the juice. and has for a long minute. to me, the nb shoes are cleary of a higher tier in quality.

This is not true. Exactly the same Midsole/Outsole.
That white part of the tooling you see on the lateral it's like a midsole rubber cover (think of basically a foxing) and that's the only thing that changed (to a more straight top-line), but it's just aesthetics in the end.
You can look at both shoes and they have the same midsole exposed on the medial side at the arch of the foot.

I dunno, maybe it is supposed to have the same midsole/outsole, but it did not feel the same in hand or on the foot.  I've been skating pairs of the og copa skate all year, and then bought the Copa Premiere right when it came out, and skated it, and the midsole/outsole really did not feel at all the same.

Did all the changes (and opportunities to cut cost/price) come from the upper then?

Only thing that maaaaybe could’ve been changed is the hardness of the compound used for the midsole (but I highly doubt that). Also when you reuse the tooling parts that helps lower cost cause you don’t pay amortisation for molds anymore (it’s almost like a rent you pay on top as an adicional cost until you cover the price of the molds). If the midsole was new you would basically have to pay a new tooling as it counts as a TN (totally new shoe).
The last definitely wasn’t changed on this either, as it’s an existing tooling, and you usually can’t switch lasts, (you have to keep using the one picked).
So probably the different feeling you felt comes from pattern changes to the upper or the materials used on it. The cheaper price is most likely due to the reuse of the already paid tooling and the simplicity of the upper compared to the Copa Nationale, and maybeeee a bigger volume of production (the more made, the cheaper it gets each unit produced).

it is a nice shoe, but yeah, the last few years have been too much samba

nikolai makes me want some busenitz. i loved playing in copas, and like a soccer style shoe, for skating and walking about, but i’ve got wide old feet, so that busenitz can’t be a good choice.
