Don't know if it's because it's a smaller size or an illusion but the Arto accel toe box looks more athletic and not potato stumpy like we've all criticized it for since 2015.

Not gonna lie it was super tempting to try it once it was in hand. I didn't succumb, however.

I love Arto and I haven't bought an eS shoe in forever but these pics are calling to me. My biggest concern is the tongue, How's it on this Arto version? Still a marshmallow like the accel og?

It seemed more like I remembered it being in the good ol days, but nothing concrete to base that off of

Obviously the sole looks wonky on the 95 version but it's probably just that pair. I mean come on, look at this shape, way better:

on both of the ‘95s there seems to be an arch or drop. They do look better in pictures. I just feel like any fine tuning on the current OGs could make the slims obsolete.

@CrimsonGhost @Atiba Applebum  As far as I can tell the padding is similar to every other Accel OG they've been putting out. I'm sure it packs down to a more contoured level with wear, but no signs of newer releases thinning the tongue padding out yet. If that's not a positive for ya, I'd recommend not buying, like I didn't.

The toe box "looked" more like how the Joslin/Marana toe box is in person to me, which is somewhat closer to the original Accel toe box. Maybe that's wishful thinking because I want to like Esagain, but they're making it difficult 😕

Gotcha thanks.   The Tom Penny accel is potatoed the fuck out to the point it looks like a kids house slipper, so it didn’t seem beyond me that they might go the opposite direction.    Anyways, appreciate it

jep, just saw the artos and the og accels side by side and the penny accels reeeeally do look just how you described.

in regards to the artos- toe box looks a lil lower wich does the shoe some service. as much puff as the accels have i do really hate that fucking high toebox the most!

if they reduced padding in the tongue and collar of the shoes by a good bit and streamlined the toebox i'd buy these but seems like és just don't like money....

Just last week I bought a pair of accel ogs, and I immediately noticed the tongue puff was reduced compared to the last pair that I got a year or two ago.  The old pair is still in good condition, and the tongue is comically puffy.  This new pair is probably half of what is in the old pair - I definitely think they cut it down sometime in the past year or so.  Now if they could cut it down a little more.......

2005 was the year they changed the toe shape, and extra puffy tongue. I remember when my shop (Feet First for my NJ people) got the PJ Accel colorways in, and half the batch had a pointy toe and slimmer tongue and half had the snub nose and extra puffy tongue. I complained to Scuba on MySpace about it and he said he couldn’t notice a difference lol

I skated many, many pairs of Accels between 1996 and 2001 and they were not like this whatsoever, but more like the pics above. The dead giveaway is the tongue- it got puffier and longer right around 2002-2003 and the padding in the collar tripled. The normal Accels were actually a less bulky shoe for the time and until IPath came along a lot of us who didn't want a big shoe skated Accels or the original Half Cabs.

It was me, and they are definitely better than an all white pair that I have from a year or so ago, but they still have some more trimming to do.  The tongue is probably half the thickness, but it is still too puffy (little victories though, right?)  The collar seems slightly less puffy, but not much.  The toe seems to be the same though.  They did take out the sti insole and they used the generic one that comes in Emerica shoes.

IIRC they were cheaper than all the other 'eS pro shoes, less bulky, and often lasted longer. I specifically remember having those white/red K3s and a pair of Accels at the same time. The K3 ripped a kickflip gash in literally 2 days and didn't last from my bday, Dec 5th, until the new year whereas the Accels got a good 8 weeks of skatin hours a day.
