They’re a cupsole in name only. No midsole just the popcush insole inside the shoe. I had the Tyson pair, I did like how sturdy and hefty it felt on foot.

Aw, thats a shame. It seems like a new trend (way to cut costs) this cup without a midsole. A good insole is not enough. And i love the tick vans insoles.

Yeah when Vans introduced Popcush they did a lot of those “cupsoles” and we see the state they put themselves in now because of those decisions, trying to put out all these reissues/2000s inspired shoes now.

The Lo Cab also came with an extra piece on the toe like the original Half Cab which I think looks better but probably would make them wreck quicker.




I've been saying for years they should have reissued the Lo Cab. The window has probably already passed on it though as styles are more Y2K than 90s now.

Always thought they dropped the ball big time few years back not pushing the Fairlane harder too. Honestly that shoe was such a good cupsole, not too bulky, legit 90s heritage style, Reynolds was rocking it, and they didn't really try to do anything with it.

I still have a couple pair they're the only Vans I wear anymore. Same sole as the Lo Cab.

For a moment i had a fantasy that vans would drop a reynolds fairlane cw. A full grain black leather with a bling bling on a central lace loop that fairlanes dont even have.

Failanes were sick shoes.
The upper were perfect. They only needed a updated sole and get rid of that oval vans logo on the tongue.

There was a blue one floating around that was supposed to drop with his half cab and never did. Either way when someone like Reynolds specifically asks for a shoe and then you don’t push it you’re just terrible at business .

Speaking of Reynolds shoes I was thinking earlier how interesting it is he’s been able to keep his nb pro model under wraps this long. How do you be a pro trying to test a pro model anymore with IG? I know Nike and NB designers and pros have talked about how it’s usually just a blacked out shoe so people don’t notice in footage but I keep imagining Reynold just pulling up to a parking garage in the middle of the night with his samples and a note book and just doing frontside flips and jotting down notes for the design team.

No they had released several colours of the regular Fairlane and then did several colours of the Skate Fairlane and one in the VCU line as well. Reynolds was slated to have an Accel coloured brown/gum Fairlane colourway come out but I believe the whole Vans thing petered out before it would have been released. I was really looking forward to that colourway.

Over the course of the last few years they probably released 10 or so colourways of the Fairlane including the regular ones and the Skate ones (only difference with the Skate ones was PopCush insole which I actually didn't like as much in there). The problem is that they just didn't push or promote the shoe. I have a pair of the regular ones white with black sole and the Skate VCU brown with black sole that Reynolds wore lots.

The regular Fairlane was a good shoe, a little too low profile for my taste but the construction was top notch for a basic cupsole. Skate version definitely felt off with the popcush as others already stated and if those were the ones people had tried on I can see why they wouldn’t sell well.

It's the same sole es has used since they came back nearly 10 years ago. Whenever there's someone who's like vulc shoes are shitty I need cupsoles they should be shown this picture so they know the names cup and vulc don't really mean anything.
