Lots of my current Nike and Vans vulcs never had the foxing tape fall off, but every Wafflecup shoe did. My NB never have that issue.
For me the issue with LRAB is that the fit and feel is just terrible. Like, a Chuck 70 actually hugs the foot better and doesn't have heel slip but somehow LRAB have this massive collar area with slippery leather and its impossible to prevent, which is weird since no other skate shoes I've owned in the last 4-5 years had any heel slip. Literally the shitty Reebok Club C's I have beat to shit as chillers are more egonomic and form fitting.
The new insole is also quite crap. It's thicker than most thin Ortholite insoles, yet provides less effective padding since it's so soft. What you are left with is a Vulc shoe that feels worse than normal since it manages to not even hold the foot in place and bottoms out extremely easy.
I know a number of people that skated through many pairs of LRAB constantly trying to justify the issue before finally moving on. Their soles would have hilariously short lifespans, but somehow they kept gaslighting themselves on the brand.
