Introducing new models is a gamble but Cons runs the risk of being like Nike where the dunk is their breadwinner and nothing else sticks at retail.
Chuck Taylor’s are the main reason they purchased Converse to begin with but at some point they will fall out of style again.
Pro model shoes can be a miss for brands unless the right skater is endorsing it and the style/design is good. Alexis’s shoe has some fans but not sure it’s the staple seller they were hoping for. They are making a lot of colors though so I’m sure it’s checking somewhere.
Reynolds, Kyle Walker, Stefan, Busenitz, Kalis, Tiago, Vincent Alvarez, Joslin, Sheckler, Figgy etc have all had success in recent years as most still have pro models and new colors each season and Sheck’s design is still in the line and doing very well. I’m sure Louie’s 2 designs have sold well but probably run their course.
People like soccer inspired designs but they never last for brands. Nike has tried it multiple times.
