Hey guys, going to post this here as it's the best thread for this.

Anyway...

I'm studying for my Master's degree in Fashion and Textile Design (University of Lapland, Faculty of Arts), and I'm currently working on a skate shoe design project which will be a part of my master's thesis research.

Shortly, the need for this project stemmed for personal issues with skate shoes available, as there are no shoes available for people with low volume feet, and no shoes that has more of a natural-shaped toe box etc. So the project's goal is to find new solutions in skate shoe design to maximize ergonomics without compromising on the shoe's functionality or aesthetics.

I'm doing my research in various ways, but I'd highly appreciate any knowledge from people, who appreciate a good skate shoe as much as I do. That's why I compiled a survey, just for people on this thread, to gather valuable research data.

KSL III's look... fine just kinda generic

The TJs look like a great throwback to some early 2k tech shoes, plus the modified version of that sole from the Evant looks great.  Interested to see what other colorways come out.

is this the first batch of new product under the Nidecker brand? Or was this all designed before the buy out.

Either way I back it. And Nidecker seems to be doing good with the brands they've acquired over the years

It's a bit of a mix in respect of designs before and after Pierre moved it under Nidecker.
A lot of the shoes in the catalogues already exist from previous seasons so the turkeys were dropped and the good models had a lot of work done on the colour-ways to present them well.
And then some new product was in the works but it was only in the first month or so of design, so the new shoes for eS, etnies and Emerica are 95% 'new product under the Nidecker brand'.

Old emericatm said the ksl at least was done before the buyout - safe to assume Tj’s shoe was too .whats interesting is it looks like they made a new sole for the ksl but TJ gets stuck with that sole they been using on a bunch of shoes.

I never said it was completed but when I was there we had green lit a new Spanky shoe and talked to him about it and we had a rough idea of what the silhouette would be like. For TJ, I can’t speak as I didn’t work on éS but I know they approved a TJ shoe around the same time. My original comment was just meant to say that these decisions were made and starting the designs were pre-buyout as the shoe timeline is 18 months while the buy-out was only 6 months ago or so.

The prior Chief XL may be uglier, honestly...but there's FAR better looking shoes than this Forte failure with a wart sized ollie guard and spider veined soles....that's prowling for trouble domestically, and not just in sales.

I kinda don't believe those fallen prowlers are real. On it's own the prowler is a much worse name than the striker and as a replacement name it's just insane.
I would have thought fallen might not be able to just eat the cost of an entire run of shoes so the solution may be either just offload them into Asia and South America or just sew a big rectangle label patch over the cole/striker logo.
But this doesn't seem to solve anything (actually makes it even worse) so it has to be a joke
