Super solid.  It looks like a Vans pro model.  Only nitpick is I’m not crazy about a lot of tongue text, but I think in a classic era/authentic colorway I’d consider

There’s a dark brown colorway that you can only see on google images (link goes to a “coming soon” page for skatedeluxe.   Doesn’t look like it has those metal eyelets on it, which is a bummer

It's pretty much 2025 of course a pro shoe is going to look like a mash up of previous models. Basically every shoe since the D3 has just been a rework of shit that already exists. Really not sure what people actually want from vans it's either nope that looks too much like a vans or they make like the new ave and it's also a nope don't like that either.

It really doesn't have to be updated. If anything the reasons to not do it (or the ave sk8 low or others from that time) is they won't be able to get it to the quality it was originally. The foxing tape had some kind of hemp like material inside it and more importantly the insoles were so much better than anything vans has been able to make in the last 15 years. I am still using my TNT 2 insoles today and have put many thousands of KMs on them. They must be crazy toxic or something because I see no reason why they won't just make them again.

Eh, I don’t actually remember the original insoles from back then other than that was the beginning of better stock insoles in general. But I ain’t mad at the Vans insoles for the past 15 years either, so take that as you will. I remember the TNTIIs as a medium padded vulc with a classic shape/paneling, so I don’t really know how to be mad at that.

It's hard to say if Curren Caples' shoe is just boring or if it might look great in the flesh. It's not offensive at all, just not very exciting either. I just hope the ankle padding is gonna be solid. Oh and we need that classic black with white sole colourway, nobody wants canvas shoes and dark brown and black is a fashion faux-pas.

The font and general presentation of his name on the tongue makes me not want to wear that shoe. I like him but that name tag is quite an eyesore. I know with pants you'd prob never see it but I'd know it is there and that's enough.

I went through a couple of months of getting flowed some vans via my shop, I had brown and orange Dr.T lows and the merciless abuse I got at high school for wearing them was unholy.

Vans and Emerica both manage to have several shoes that are almost indistinguishable if you blur your eyes. It's wild to think that probably hundreds of hours went into design and testing and people were like "ya this is a unique product to bring to market that has unique style and design it'll sell great".

At the same time it seems designed for Vans stores in place of some of the more generic models they used to sell like the Chukka Low.
