No need to say that looks like an Era which is totally expectable, they also remind me of those Caswell Osiris joints.
Sir, I'm going to politely, but firmly, ask you and your common sense to leave this establishment.

i think once you lace them up, it'll cover that tongue text.  hopefully it's not like the KSL 1 remake with its big, glaring SPANKY unavoidably sticking out above the laces.

I think there’s a lot Vans is doing wrong. Like why do my feet bleed trying to wear in a flimsy vulc slip on?
But I don’t get the complaint about boring shoes. They are skate shoes. Give me simple clean shoes that skate well (not saying vans delivers that) and I’m good. Or are we doing this weird sneaker head thing now?

Van was the only person to make the Dr.T look good. If they do bring them back youz better put in max effort to look like this

So, so good...

I'd take an all white Dr. T shoe though, don't know if I could pull off any other colorway like Van did.

Don’t mind the shoe overall but this tongue graphic is an absolute fucking mess. Laces will probably hide it but how did that get approved past a first round of reviews.

I honestly like the way those currens look. But also a fan of eras. But  unless there’s some hidden tech I probably wouldn’t spend more money than what the cost of eras are for them.

Vans and Emerica both manage to have several shoes that are almost indistinguishable if you blur your eyes. It's wild to think that probably hundreds of hours went into design and testing and people were like "ya this is a unique product to bring to market that has unique style and design it'll sell great".

At the same time it seems designed for Vans stores in place of some of the more generic models they used to sell like the Chukka Low.

Agreed 1000% I get that a lot of skaters don’t care about a shoe that’s going to be destroyed in a month or two but some of these brands (emerica) are so boring. Even Vans which has a ton more money to spend makes some pretty boring shoes. There’s a few exceptions like the ave pro and I guess the zahba but that’s about it.

For me I love Nikes. They actually design a shoe from the ground up whether you like the design or not. They let Ishod go all out with his pro models, they came out with that ps8 shoe that has a freaking fly plate in it and actually reeeaaally good zoom air cushioning system. That fly knit upper actually seems very durable although I haven’t skated mine.

The Tiago 1010 is another shoe with a ton of tech. I love it. Kinda sick of these boring ass skate shoe designs.

I honestly prefer a "boring" vulc with a different outsole versus another awful cupsole that nobody is going to buy. Vans has put out some extremely ugly and boring shoes in the last few years, but this one feels more like a vans shoe than models like the rowan 2, the zahba or that ugly 2000's style cupsole (mixxa?). vans and nike aren't comparable, they're built for two completely different consumers. it's like trying to compare mini-cooper and aston martin. aston martin is performance/luxury focused while mini builds basically one car for their entire history... the mini. vans isn't going to top Nike/NB with performance/tech footwear.

Good distinction you’ve made here but I’ve found that both the Rowan 2 and AVE 2 are on par with the more tech offerings from Nike and NB#. I’m looking forward to checking the Curren to see if it compares favorably.

Her brown and black mid top cup soles actually look good to me. I got a pair at ross. The live love laugh font on the heel with her name is the only thing that bummed me out.

I don't have experience with the AVE 2, but I can't imagine buying the Rowan 2 over the 1010 or even that new P58 from Nike. I'm sure they're all great products with good tech, but I get the feeling that consumers aren't buying either of the AVE 2 or the Rowan 2. It seems like those models are perpetually on clearance at every shop.

You're not wrong about the perpetual clearance. I assume the market just doesn't care about Vans tech and wants them to stick to their hits.

Doesn’t help most of the colorways I’ve come across are just straight uninspired.

I remember the shift towards vulc shoes in the 2000’s. Pros would get their own shoe model and they were pretty much all identical compared to the interesting cup soles that were coming out before. I kept wondering what the point was. After a while, people just kind of accepted it.

slightly confused with the marketing on this one because they're saying it's the "original 1977 vans old skool." to me, it doesn't seem like the original style 36 (based on marketing images from back in the day) but there is no explaining of the design. also, FUCK exposed foam.

It’s not the original, it’s an updated version.

It’s basically the skate version of the Knu School. A lot of colorways of this model coming out this year
