A little more than 15 I think. I think it came out 2009/2010 because I remember everyone in here hyping them up and maybe getting a pair the summer before my senior year in college. That would have been summer 2010 and it felt like they were already around for a bit before that summer. And yeah, the only major change is removing the tongue flap. But I think that even happened pretty quickly.

The original vulc Janoski low was around for forever, but even that went away for a bit while Nike pushed different soles or mid/high versions. I found a random IG post that said they relaunched the original vulc Janoskis in 2024 after a break of like 5 years.

they do the original with long tongue still. as well the vulc 2, indoor, and the one with the shorter tongue is the busenitz vintage.

I like think Tony wanted the actual shoe to be skatable and not slop. That's the only reason I can imagine he spent like 2 or 3 years testing out these. I know it's a budget shoe, but budget doesn't always have to be boring.








I also don't like that he went with the subtle logo. If i'm skating Tony Hawk shoes, I want everyone to fucking know

I like them but much like any modern es shoe I’ll say like it and then they’ll be discontinued before I get around to trying them. I do like whoever their designer is though, at least they try new stuff compared to the other soletech brands.

Looking at Tony's career, he's always been about making skateboarding accessible to everyone once he started making real money. Whether it was through pro gear sales or company paid ads (Totinos/McDonalds/Got Milk, etc) to do it

I respect it because he's always been transparent about it and not hide that he did some corporate company ads to feed his family.

I think bringing back Hawk Shoes is:
1) a way to cement the Tony Hawk™️ legacy & brand that he had prior.
2) making affordable entry level skate shoes that aren't complete dogshit. Kids (or adults) with emptier pockets can still skate something decent from their local department store before they dive into skate shops for the real gear and steeper costs

I had the same color way BAs on when I met him at Tampa pro last year. We chatted quickly about the constant search for the remaining ones out there. I very badly wanted to mention the need for a reissue..but I was starstruck and Im sure that was already implied.
