Kind of surprised (but not really) that Hawk is doing shoes that seem to be a quick cash grab. His name is really not as relevant to the youth as before and I assume these shoes are for them. I almost feel like it’s doom unless the profit margins are that good for a cheap shoe like that.
Looking at Tony's career, he's always been about making skateboarding accessible to everyone once he started making real money. Whether it was through pro gear sales or company paid ads (Totinos/McDonalds/Got Milk, etc) to do it
I respect it because he's always been transparent about it and not hide that he did some corporate company ads to feed his family.
I think bringing back Hawk Shoes is:
1) a way to cement the Tony Hawk™️ legacy & brand that he had prior.
2) making affordable entry level skate shoes that aren't complete dogshit. Kids (or adults) with emptier pockets can still skate something decent from their local department store before they dive into skate shops for the real gear and steeper costs
