Author Topic: Resolution to Deaner/admin + code of conduct (Read 11392 times)

OK, after several meetings and discussions with the bosses, deaner and myself, here is the overall outcome of the situation:

-deaner will resign from his admin role and remain on the boards as a regular poster.
-starting tomorrow there will a "code of conduct" window that you will see once a year where you will click to agree to the terms before entering the forum. once you've done it, you won't see it again for a year. it was written by the owenrs of slap/high speed and outlines general conduct to adhere to while using the site, as well as consequences for not adhering-- these are basic rules that go for all users of the forum, admins and mods too. it's basic stuff, talking about not posting people's private info (ie IP addresses, home addresses, etc), not posting things that violate local or US law, if you're under 18 there is some material on this site which it is illegal for you view and not to do it, etc. then it says if anybody, admins/mods included, goes too far with anything, you get one warning and then you get banned outright.

hopefully this code of conduct and the resolution with deaner will take care of everybody's issues and we can move ahead.

no, it won't be completely censored, that's not what anybody wants. it's mostly just about private info being posted (and keeping underage kids out of porn photos). generally proceed as usual and when something needs to be addressed it will be. all the naughty words, topics and nudity stays (provided the nudity doesn't involve minors), and really not much will even get touched unless there is something blatant reported.

the only censorship is posting of peoples personal information which doesn't seem to bad depending on how it's implemented. i'm sure gay porn would still be allowed otherwise it wouldn't be necessary to require over 18.

whiteley, i'm assuming that these rules apply to people use elevated privalleges on slap to post peoples personal information about other posters and not things like posting up the angry bush guys info, is that right?

also, can we go ahead and ban mike forks new account? i doubt that's even really him but whoever is behind it should be banned IMO.

correct. what it's attempting to stop is forum members sleuthing out other forum member's IP address, hacking their private info, etc.

Public info is still public... I read Mark's statement as referring to private shit that you normally wouldn't have access to. Like, if your email isn't hidden, posting an image of you wouldn't be fucked. We'll all still haze each other, just not use hidden info to do it.

Most people have their facebook profiles private though, so someone has to become their friend to access it, so I would interpret that as private.

Also I don't understand the under 18 rule. People under 18 can post here, they just aren't allowed to look at porn thats posted here? How is that supposed to work...

all anybody really has consider is no non-public info is to be posted, and no minors in porn. the rest is pretty much business as usual. info that people have made public themselves, ie facebook photos, etc., is public and is therefore fair game. hacking people's private info is not. that's pretty standard, as is no underage porn. anyhow, unless you're really blowing it there isn't anything to sweat.
