Powerviolence

I am VERY proud of this....

My friend is in a powerviolence band from Maine called Robocop.  They are on Grindcore Karaoke, which is the awesome new label from J. Randall of Agoraphobic Nosebleed.  They have a song called Maine Is The Bastard and I designed a shirt for this song.  What is really cool is that Eric Wood from Man Is The Bastard signed off on the idea and is going to get a shirt as well.  Please check it out and if you dig powerviolence done right.  The album is for free and the shirts are $10.

And Despise You is one of my current favorite bands

Some local favorites:

No coast power violence.

You and the D00D have turned this thread into a horrible head-on-collision between a short bus full of regular kids and a van full of paraplegics.

I saw Palatka about 10 years ago at a house show in Denton

I love me some His Hero Is Gone too

I have a bunch of Spazz, Infest, Crossed Out, Slap-A-Ham stuff.  Despise You was always on the record player too for awhile.  I was into that stuff 10-12 years ago but still enjoy some of it and kept all the records.

Yeah dude, I totally hard about Chest Pain from my homie in Austin RIGHT before I left.  I liked what I heard.

Yeah they're sick we've played a couple shows with them. You heard of Naw Dude? Chest Pain did a split with them, also a really sick band...
Here is some stuff to download, this is the chest pain side of the split.

You guys should definitely check out Lords of Light. They're super sick.

Also Capitalist Casualties for sure. Through my old bands I've been able to play shows with them a couple of times. They're rad.

*and I guess since I mentioned, here's one of my old bands Death A.D.'s record. If you're into the stuff in this thread, I think you might be into it.

I've had the Charles Bronson discography on repeat lately. Extortion kills it as well.

Hatred surge rips. Been on a fix of them lately. Saw Faiza (the ex female singer, she's in a band called Mindless now) live, she was bumping into me all night. I was covered in her sweat, it was awesome.

Weekend Nachos is probably my favorite power violence act, maybe Despise you.

honorable mentions:

Shit Storm
Lack of Interest
Knucklescraper

50/50 (sick Houston band, they even skate!)

Magrudergrind and Nasum. More "grind core" but I guess it's powerviolence too.

Sick. My old band played our second show with hummingbird of death at this skateshop with a miniramp. We played on the deck, and all the kids were circle pitting in the flatbottom. It was sick.

I saw humming bird of death at the broken neck here in austin, essentially a crusty warehouse that has shows. The acoustics there are shit and the guitar and bass covered up the drums essentially ruining the show. I would of much rather it would of just been drums and vocals.

Is that the place next to an autobody shop and uses red lights? I skated there from downtown and started melting at 2 in the morning.

I don't know if they exactly fit the powerviolence subgenre but The Ultimate Warriors are getting lots of spins lately.

Spazzy and goofy. Love it.

All the bands mentioned are in my itunes. I'm a fan and never realized it was a genre until I started perusing blogs for out of print albums I wanted.

They just released a record on Scion, the car company. Rather strange.

There's a houe in my town where hella where all kinds of punk bands play. I've seen a couple Swedish power violence bands play there. I can't remember their names for the life of me. And to broke for merch.

Yep. They're trying to raise money to build a bowl in the back, but I really doubt its going to happen. They've been throwing some alright shows to raise money for it though. It's all dug and framed but concrete hasn't been poured yet. If I remember correctly they tore down the old ramp because they were tired of skateboarders.

Total Abuse is playing there for SXSW, that'll be fun, of course with mysterious artsy noise sets as opening acts. I saw Rusty, the lead singer of total abuse's noise set, it was rough. More of a performance piece then music.
