^^I'm pretty sure SkateAid was just repackaged arnica, which yeah, totally works.

Psyched to hear about the possible move for Matt. Can't wait to see what his board might look like. Odds are, it'll be my first organika (and probably not my last).

If I make another carpet cruiser to mail out to you, do you think there's anyway you could get it to Mr. Rodriguez?
[close]
I've got my carpet cruiser hanging up in my house. Thanks again for that, my friend.   Dude, Matt would be so stoked to get one of those, too.  I'll see if he's down to give his address to you. Im sure he'll be down.

First off, congrats on your newly aquired Pal status.
Secondly, Awesome! I have a couple of new shapes I've been working on for the cruisers, and if he'd be down to receive one, I'd be psyched to make another board for a dude I grew up idolizing.
Any chance Organika is also looking to expand their product line into the cruiser market? and if so, any chance you'd wanna go the carpetgripped route? I mean, I know you've got that little one I sent you on your wall, but I almost wanna make and send you a second just so you could actually try one out, cause they work really well, and they have the potential to look pretty dope if a legit company got behind the idea (plus, they won't tear up your praxis')

I'm going to argue that Placebo owes their entire career to a Canadian dude's skate video part. Appleyard should be getting royalties for this shit.

Hey Karl, are you familiar with the website goskate.com? Their a website that offers skateboarding lesson to kids and they have you listed as an included pro instructor. Are they just name dropping to seem legit or do you actually do business with them? If you don't know about them I would suggest talking to them to get your name off their site considering they have a pretty bad rep. If you do actually do business with them Ill have a follow up question.
[close]
Yes! I am very familiar with this website. I worked for them a few times and the experience was pretty cool. I just skated for 5 year olds at birthday parties lol.  The pay was horrible but I did it for the experience and to make some kiddies happy.
[close]
Interesting, they didnt seem very legit to me. well anyways I taught a few lessons for them and never ended up getting paid. They wont return my emails or phone calls. Do you have any suggestions or could you help me contact the owner? I mean I dont want to get lawyers or anything involved but I really need that money, especially it being Christmas time.
[close]
Sorry to hear that, dude.  Unfortunately Im no longer in contact with them. They would always call from a blocked caller ID; I guess so they could get over on people in the end. If you did work for them and they owe you money I would recommend you seek legal council. Thats just messed up!
[close]
Yea I feel ya, it just sucks because its going to cost money to take action. Takes money to make money I guess :/

I did a whois lookup on the goskate.com domain- this is what came back:

Registrant:
I'll Keep my guns, freedom, and money.  You can keep the change.

...dude's obscuring his identity with libertarian-right crap.

Reverse lookup on the phone number:
Ana J Mateo
518 Norman St, Bridgeport, CT 06605

...pretty sure he just used the number as something to throw in there.

Edited to add, I looked up the golf domain, but the info is private, though there is a cell phone number:

Not an awkward question at all.

I truly dont know how much other pros make off of their royalties but I can tell you that it varies a whole lot.  Some guys never see royalties off of their boards because they dont sell enough product, but then there are other dudes that get huge checks off of their royalties.

I feel there is an assumption that skateboard pros make a ton of money. There is about 2-5% of guys that make most of this money in this industry. Then you've got guys like myself who live comfortably and just loves the shit out of skateboarding.

I would love to make a lot of money from skateboarding but I think thats only going to come as I become more responsible with my earnings.

If you're looking for a dollar amount I think the average pro skater makes  40,000-60,000 annually.

New shoe company started by some cool dudes.  Not trying to give the brand too much of a plug or anything, but the shoes feel so good to skate in!

Just checked my bank account, and its looking like i might not be able to make it to Agenda after all (which is kinda ok, because its looking like early Jan2012 is going to be a busy time for my "real" job anyways.)
so...rain check? or a series of PMs? or e-mails?

Karl,

What is Praxis? whos behind it? is it people who used to run other shoe companies and decided to start their own or is it people who are completely new to the skate industry? Would we recognize any names from behind the scenes?

I can't wait for Praxis to hit shelves. I'll be at Agenda LB doing my "Agenda Sneak Peek" articles and if it's cool with you Karl, could I stop by the booth or set-up an appointment to take some photographs of the line?

The whole idea of the "Sneak Peek" articles is to give the consumer a closer look of what they can be expecting from the brands they love.
Let me know if you'd be down for me to take some photos and post them on RippedLaces.com...

Thanks :)
