field report

pretty sure they just kicked all the homeless ppl out of bridge spot. The pickballers might have big plans for it. It is across from a whole foods right between two pretty good neighborhoods

I miss OG bridge spot, like '08-'11 when it was wide open and still had several good obstacles, the huge QP, and the mini. Nowadays it seems its just a tiny manny pad and the one concrete QP from the occasional homies clips there. Shame it's never returned to its glory DIY days after all these years, but at least it's still somewhat hanging on?

Could only dream man. But naw it’s pretty ass and dead. I only ever seen one other skater there.

Update field report:

One of the skater homies passed, I didn’t know him foreal but it brought everybody together. Sad but beautiful day at Shaw.

Freedom had a pride event setup don’t know if it’s still up. That was yesterday. Still places to skate. Bust level is non existent on regular days.

Up bridge rn it’s some extreme electric scooter kids. I kinda fuck with it. Seen a skater last time I was here. This shit so clutch when it’s raining

What's the scoop with Welfare? Archives? Beyond the iconic spots there's so many spots in DC it's unreal I suppose if Pulaski isn't a bust it's a no brainer but it really can overshadow the wealth of spots elsewhere.

I never been to welfare, I kind of don’t even know where it’s at[even though I just realize I could just google it]

Archives I never see anyone skate if it’s where I think it is. Could be out the loop tho

But yeah I agree. As a fan of vids im kinda of tired of freedom footage. Iconic spot but it’s pretty played out. I wanna see new spots get fucked.

Public service prolly the biggest video to come out recently, I love the video for the most part but I swear it’s like 50% at freedom.

Bruh, you don't need a guided tour... eat edibles, and hit up Smithsonian Museums... as the other user mentioned, nearly all are free, and can easily walk between each.

Yeah was curious to see what the scene is like down there now with this bullshit militarization of the city by that POS in the WH. Haven't seen homies post much at the fort lately, but did notice last weekend from Crushed that they finally cleared up bridge spot and brought down some obstacles for a little event. So that was cool to see.

Also what's good with this new skateshop, Sister? Is this the new DC shop that will (hopefully) last and stick around?

Shaw still packed, not sure wassup in the streets tho.

Not to defend what’s going on but most those guys are just standing around, I don’t think they are really worried about skateboarders. Maybe if a group doing too much

Crushed cleared bridge? I thought it was the city/trump tryna clean the area. My guess is they gonna turn it to an underground park for volo sports organization. I did see that obstacle setup on the court.

I don’t know anything about the shop tho. Shit I hope it lasts

Yeah idk if they cleared it out or helped, just meant I saw thru their IG story the event there and how opened up it all was again finally. But wouldn’t surprise me if they turn it into some multi-sport court thing too tho.

Gotta get it while ya can I guess.

went to the shop today. It’s a streetwear consignment store right above it. They said they sold out of shop board which is cool. No shoes and limited trucks/wheels options. Brand image is cool excited for the future.

Growing up strict Mormon the closest Mormon Temple to Prince Edward Island at the time was in Washington DC, my favorite city in the world.
I wasn't aloud to bring my skate on Temple trips in case I broke a bone ie.
I went on Temple Trips from the age of six , I was converted, not my choice until I was around 16 ish.

My favorite place there is the Smithsonian Institute n the Temple as well , it's all marble ,I was doing baptisms for the dead haha

Best times of my life though, we'd cut through NYC , Boston ie

The Reagan Era , I was there , my Mom Dad Sister n myself hiding under the bed , gun shots all night , it was buck wild .

The fence is up surrounding Pulaski. They have a permit until mid-May for fountain-related repairs, but they have been ripping up the steps already. We'll see how this unfolds and if they take out the main ledge. It's only been two weeks so far.

Skater owned and operated! Some really good people behind this shop.

Anyways with Pulaski, there was a plan to pretty much remodel lots of Pennsylvania Ave. But with the 250 year anniversary of the United States, they're trying to make some things "nicer" I guess.

Here is a document of the contract-related stuff. So far, they've torn up some stairs. But they have never knobbed any national park service controlled spots in the city, so unless they tear the ledge out it should be okay. I'm sure Park Police presence will be increased either way once it's open.

Thanks for this info. That's a shame but it has to be completed by 7/4/26 for the parade. I pity the fool that finna hop that fence and skate in this politically militarized climate.
