I've never been on it, but it's totally fucked both of my daughters' brains. As much as I've tried to restrict it, they're like full-on crack fiends for TikTok and so are all their friends. Even if I block it on their phones, they find other ways to get on. My one daughter looked at one eating disorder video and then ED vids clogged her stream, then she ended up in the hospital. Fuck TikTok.

I know I’m not a parent so I’m told I can’t understand but I get really frustrated when I see my friends start to tablet up their children.

I get really frustarted when people try to blame parents when the apps are specifically designed to make teens addicted. Meta's own research verifies this and shows parental monitoring does little to curb social media addiction for kids.  They can even get on TikTok from school issued ipads/chromebooks.

When my older daughter turned 12, she saw some tiktok on her friend's phone that was labeled as "how I beat my ED", but it was really "how to develop an ED" and she just stopped eating. She spent almost 6 months in the hospital and a residential program. I've done my absolute best to restrict it, but at school all her friends have phones and are making TikTok videos. Wu-Tang albums and Big Brother mags may have fucked me up a little when I was 12, but this shit is going to be the downfall of Gen Alpha.

Been to Jamaica twice for weddings, and Dominican twice for weddings. Since my trips were for weddings, we were in some 4-5 star resorts.  The food in Jamaica was absolutely incredible, and the workers at the resorts were amazing.  Met a really cool local that does spear fishing, and hunts and lives off the land as much as possible.  I'd honestly go back to Jamaica since I had a blast there.  Overall, I'd rather go travelling instead of doing the resort thing, but the resort is nice when you just want to escape winter and have no responsibilities.

I think you could go on a skate trip and buy lots of shit from the local businesses and do more good for ppl who really need it. Even leaving a board at the end of a trip could be really meaningful to someone there, could be really hard to get boards there.

i would gather elite world banksters probably reap a huge % of the money from resorts still and only very few selected from within the country corrupted are getting continuous bribes to allow it to continue to exist in this manner. just by how the world seems to operate...
