the jenkem 999 contest is coming up, and man i really wonder how i would do. on some days i have a pretty decent 3flip, im not too worried about those. 9 beers is alot, but i could manage. the 9 hot dogs though... that part seems tough.

anyone think they could do this challenge?

I have this specific thought maybe once a month for the last decade or two. I'll be walking down the street and see some tall building and think about how many different sinks there are in that building and it blows me away that you can just turn a handle and either hot or cold water can immediately comes out. And then I start to think about skyscrapers in New York and how many sinks/faucets they have and my mind starts to be blown. It feels a bit like a miracle to me that we have the plumbing/electricity engineering to facilitate all that.

And how about cellphones? All they can do, and now we have our own chauffeurs and food delivery if we want to spend the money on it.

And endless knowledge.

And now AI is getting in the mix.

It’s crazy.

Has Reynolds ever done a 360 fs flip like this one?:

That's actually something I would like to know. I mean Reynolds can catch fs flips in his sleep.  So why not turn 180 degrees further?

If AI videos become too pervasive, and nobody trusts clips on IG, will skate demos and summer tours resurge in popularity? Can’t use tech bro bullshit to fake the funk IRL.

I’ll only be cool with droid pros if they’re like the campy old Star Wars droids. They’ll have to look silly, some would have to be really uptight, and they’d all have to be programmed to make alarmed R2-D2 noises when they slam.

a nose ollie is a nollie ollie, technically, because nollie is the stance. everyone has been wrong since the beginning.

I'm at the library charging my gizmos and reading comics. There's a big guy, not too crazy, but a regular annoying libraty type, who sits on one of the public computers and talks loudly to himself, for the benefit of those around him. He says stuff like "god dear god, what is the world coming to," and "Touchdown !!! oh  i'm so relieved." And of course he talks on his phone, seemingly not aware that this might annoy any of the other people sitting quietly around him, or that it might not be cool to talk real loud in a library generally.
Anyway, the thing I am pondering is, the relationshhip btw this guy and so many people wearing headphones at the skatepark these days. It annoys me that so many people wear headphones: I know i know, what business is it of mine? But I like the social aspect of skating with people, i like little comments back and forth, even if its just a lil woop for somebody's trick they've been trying and finally landed, and it doesn't feel the same when you know they can't hear you. It's a me problem, i already know that, but this guy at the library is making me wonder if it's a bigger or different problem than i thought it was. Maybe more people wear headphones because more people are crazy and/or annoying these days? Maybe dudes at the skate park don't want to hear my occasional hot take any more than I want to hear this guy talk about the dallas cowboys.

This ponder live from the live oak branch, fuelled by Chantal Montellier's Social Fiction

I have a very sudden 1 week work trip to the Phillipines to lead a week of trainings and im so wondering how much I can get away with expensing to this corporate card. The dude that onboarded me onto the trip basically anything that counts as supplies is good, including work appropriate clothes, but I'm about to run the fucking hell out of it

When all these volcanos blow off the coast will the price of basalt go down in turn making those dlx boards cheaper?

Also.

Mowing down 70+ people in Liverpool isn’t being considered an act of terrorism but an Irish musician repping Hezbollah is terrorism. Free speech in the west is a myth.

If I should buy a car. I swear like two weeks after I started skating I my car got repo’d.

I look at it like a blessing tho, there’s no way I would a went as hard if I had a car. Not dissing but I might have never left the park. I def wouldn’t have found as many spots.

But winter was so fucking brutal I don’t know if I wanna do that shit again. Also so much of my skating is just pushing, been working switch lately but I think if I had a car I would have more time to work on tricks.

Idk maybe if I could move to city I wouldn’t need a car [I live in maryland]. Never wanted to be this type of guy but if I could get a girl with a car that would be cool. I kinda want a learn how to learn stick. We’ll see.

Fuck I just remembered I don’t know if I actually can get a car. I owe that government thousands of dollars for tickets I’m not paying that

Unfortunately, learning to drive stick is almost pointless now. The manufacturers have all but completely stopped producing them except for rare sport enthusiast models. Paddle shifters aren't the same, if there's no clutch pedal it's not a manual and will never drive like one. Bums me out.
I'm thinking about picking up a GR86, WRX, or Corolla hatchback, and I know it'll probably be the last true manual car I'll ever own.

I work valet. Every 1 in 5,000 cars is a car snob who gets his nut off by one of the valets not knowing how to drive stick. I’m the only one that can’t. I need to epically pwn them

What is the weakest track on Appetite? This is an incredibly hard choice for me as I believe it’s the only perfect popular hard rock album of the late 80s.

Steven Adler’s drums yo. Every time I think this is the weakest track I’m pulled back to the drums and think nah it’s gotta be a different one.

The only issue I can think of on the album besides Axle’s lyrical content occurs on Think about you. Every other chorus they have this loud ass clean Guitar over the top that is way too loud. .

What do yall think

I've been wondering this for years but have never said anything to anyone.
My entire youth everyone said "360 flip", maybe the occasional "3 flip", then I took an extended hiatus from skating and when I came back everyone, literally everyone, even the oldest of old heads, had fully adopted the term "tre flip".
It almost felt like some kind of alternate reality Mandela effect shit, but I just said fuck it and rolled with it without giving it much thought.

Seriously though, I wasn't around when it started. When did it start?
Who started it or where did it start?
How did it spread so quickly and thoroughly?

I have no idea but I hate the term and refuse to say it. I've posted about it many times before because I'm a boring shit poster but I too wonder where it came from.

I googled some skate search the other day and this awesome angelfire website popped up. Made me think of the old days of the internet back when it was a much simpler but more feared place.

https://www.angelfire.com/apes2/118sk8er/page6.html

And to tie it all together there's a photo of Bryan Herman and is captioned with 360 flip.
