There are the periodic threads about slap not being what it used to, and it just donned on me: interacting online in text form was a lot more fun when it was a novelty. Though I still enjoy slap, I find myself actively trying to limit the amount of digital, message-based relationships in my life.

I wouldn't be surprised if a lot of young people, and at this point young meaning under 30, don't even know what a messageboard is, and if they do, they wouldn't have the patience for it.
This shit is to social media what writing letters was to talking on the phone.
Kids ain't gonna do this shit.

This is one of the only places I do any commenting or interacting, and I mostly only do it during work hours.
I virtually never post or comment on instagram or reddit, and I don't have a facebook, linkedin, or tiktoc.

Last Saturday coming home I saw an unhoused person in a Mario costume(minus the hat) going under a bridge. Later that day coming back from skating I saw yet another unhoused person in front of a gas station a block away from the same bridge dressed like the hulk and applying green face makeup.
This got me wondering why and if this is a new strategy to appear non threatening to rando citizens.
I really can’t stop thinking about the why of it.

Yeah I think it's cool. Aren't u curious what ur friends r listening to? So much variety and availability in music these-a-days so it's nice to see how the other 1/2 live if u know what I mean. All in our own bubbles.

I've always thought skateboarding is cool. That's why I got into it in the first place as a kid. Most of my life I thought others must feel the same way. I've realized though this is not the case.
