In today's world, it is sad to say, but I could see why a fake story would be run (in order to generate traffic and sell advertising space). If that wasn't the case here, then without, yes, it would be a truly tragic even that no one should have to experience.

It's pretty messed up for everyone involved. The girl and step father for getting mauled, and for the mother having to hear her daughter dying. At the same time it's shitty for the bears. It's their natural habitat that is being taken from them and they are just trying to survive. Humans are truly weak when it comes down to it, without machines and weapons we are almost defenceless. In the wild, the strongest survive! That being said, I wish this never happened. I can't imagine what her mother is going through.

i know i've posted some messed up things before, but reading this story was just devastating to me.

i don't even want to imagine what those phone calls must have been like for the mother. hope she gets some much needed help and is able to somehow keep it together.

god, the ending of that movie is so depressing. i remember watching a making of and Werner Herzog said the audio of the attack was one of the most horrific things he's ever heard. it's so bad that he vowed to never release it to the public.

...I'm guessing she was in shock for quite some time. That would explain her talking but not being in pain (as mentioned in one part of the article). Just a guess, but I imagine as more trauma occurred, the looser her hold on reality became to some degree. I've read about a number of situations (not counting seeing white lights and stuff) of people hitting a point of a drug-induced-like state of acceptance of their impending demise as the brain shuts down certain functions and releases chemicals to help transition a person from the actual miserable place they're in to a place that's real, but a but obscured by the brain releasing (sometimes described as) euphoric chemicals.

Basically, her combination of agony, trauma, adrenaline and shock had her out of her mind. Later on, even more so as she probably lost a lot of blood (and oxygen because of that).

Ah, I couldn't stop thinking about this shit yesterday. As mentioned, from the family to the bears themselves, this is just so fucking sad.

Totally forgot about that movie. That was brutal when the family and friends listened to the deaths go down because the camera was still on when they were being eaten. Very sad stuff, both stories are horrific.

I wonder what kind of emergency services that area has? That whole situation is a fucking bummer. That mother must've felt like the absolute most helpless person ever.

I just read some article about tourists in Yellowstone pretty much trying to pose with Grizzly bears, and even one guy trying to chase one with his video camera. Those things are no fucking joke.

because the theory is once a bear (or other wild animal) kills and eats humans, then they are going to keep doing it, which causes a threat to more people. its a safety thing and it makes sense. sucks for the bears because they are just doing what their instincts tell them, but life's a bitch when you're not top of the food chain

This story sounds fucked, I started to read the article but I stopped, I just really don't want more horrible ideas/images in my head than there has to be.

All I know is bears are fucking brutal and not to fuck around with them.
