...I'm guessing she was in shock for quite some time. That would explain her talking but not being in pain (as mentioned in one part of the article). Just a guess, but I imagine as more trauma occurred, the looser her hold on reality became to some degree. I've read about a number of situations (not counting seeing white lights and stuff) of people hitting a point of a drug-induced-like state of acceptance of their impending demise as the brain shuts down certain functions and releases chemicals to help transition a person from the actual miserable place they're in to a place that's real, but a but obscured by the brain releasing (sometimes described as) euphoric chemicals.
Basically, her combination of agony, trauma, adrenaline and shock had her out of her mind. Later on, even more so as she probably lost a lot of blood (and oxygen because of that).
Ah, I couldn't stop thinking about this shit yesterday. As mentioned, from the family to the bears themselves, this is just so fucking sad.
