wow, interesting stuff. It also shows how woke AWS was in 2009. they used a veldt/apollo heights song for marquis henry's part in the extras.

Don’t know if anyone is into Japanese shoegaze but this band BP is incredible, just found them a few weeks ago and I hoped y’all would enjoy them too!

Old thread but searched for it rather than starting a new one.
Anyway… Glare is a pretty solid band.  Blood Pact is cool too. Both are on the “heavier” side.

WHIRR finally put out their 3rd LP after gettin canceled  and dropped from their label in 2015.

It's their best, produced by people in Cloakroom so it sounds HUGEEE and the songs are soooo good

love that this thread got a bump and this album is still incredible. one of my favorites.

I’m not sure if Starflyer 59 has been mentioned but I think they are really good. They also have a new album out it’s good but their early stuff is excellent. Their Gold lp is one of my favorites.

rare tobias funke sighting! miss the cover showdowns

building off the 2024 list:
DIIV - Frog in Boiling Water
Julie - My Anti-Aircraft Friend
Wishy - Triple Seven
TAGABOW - Swanlike
Midwife - No Depression in Heaven

and they both dropped in 2023 but Hotline TNT - Cartwheel and Wednesday - Rat Saw God are still on heavy repeat

edit: and for good measure here's my go-to "obscure" shoegaze band, Majesty Crush out of Detroit. put out some very cool (and dark) music in the 90s but got fucked by a bad record deal, faded away, and then years later guitarist David Stroughter was shot dead by police during a mental breakdown. RIP.

I really hope HUM consider a Euro tour. which is doubtful.
