I think nobody wanted to sign him so he retired lol.  He was a decent role player during last year's regular season and he finally got a ring with the last team his mom saw him playing with.  It's time to hang the hat.

Ha, got a point there. His stats weren't all there but he had some solid years during his career. Kind of cool he won a ring but bummed on other legends who never got one, Elgin Baylor, Stockton, Karl Malone, Nash, just to name a few. Crazy we live in a world where Adam Morrison has two when AI has none.

Sixers traded Stauskas, Okafor and a second round pick for Trevor Booker.

Yep we are that dumb
[close]

eh looks like it came out neutral. booker isn't bad, hes basically amir johnson but can actually move and jump.
[close]

We just never gave Okafor a chance. He's a good player but we could have gotten something better without giving up another player and another pick
[close]

no hes not. If spinning around, holding the ball too long, being out of shape, and playing no defense equates to being a good basketball player, then sure.
[close]

Did you not see him play last year? He was on a team with no Ben Simmons, no Joel Embiid (for the most part) and no Redick and we came close to making the playoffs. Don't just jump on the hate train. Philly didn't give him a chance at all. The seasons he did play we were meant to lose to get good draft picks. Now that we have a solid team, we didn't return the favor to him at all

Okafor plays the same position as Embiid, and is way worse at both ends of the floor. He also fancies himself a starter, so wasnt't be happy with coming off the bench, and even if he was, wouldn't really help address any of their bench's weaknesses. They had literally no reason to play him with Embiid healthy. Other GMs will see that the utility of the player to your franchise is low, and will adjust their offers accordingly. Sometimes it's just best to move on even if the deal isn't an equal exchange as far as talent.

True. I would have kept him though since Embiid can't play back to back games. Hopefully he gets his shine at Brooklyn

Anyone catch the Kobe retirement? Lakers hosting the Warriors. Jeanie Buss, Lakers CEO, was talking to the crowd/ Kobe about loyalty, camera man then went straight to Kevin Durant. Cameraman the real mvp.

Durant shot 10-29 and was bricking all night until the 4th, so let's be real here. He made all the clutch shots and won the game, no denying that though.

Trashcon, the majority of posters in this thread HATE the Lakers btw. I've been a fan for over 20 years and know our bandwagon/casual fans are a big reason why we get so much hate, but it is what it is at this point.

Lonzo's shot is a pretty big concern for me tbh, so I hope he can figure it out or alter it if need be. Love everything else he brings to the court though (passing, rebounding, defense, bball iq/decision making, court vision, etc.)

I got to see the Lakers/Sixers game at Staples last month. What a fun night. I really like the directions both organizations are heading in and I hope a genuine rivalry develops between the 2.

(Tobey, I agree with PAWL and weedpop's breakdown of the Okafor situation, but I think the Sixers could've gotten a better deal for him too. Dude looks out of shape though. I wish D-Lo/Okafor the best on the Nets and hope they reach their potentials there).

Sorry for the rant, everybody. I need a place to talk bball, even if so many of you despise my beloved Lakers.

Fair enough, Lakers are looking promising with the talent they're building on. Ingram is coming into his own and becoming a great weapon on offense, also agree with everything you said about Lonzo, not the biggest fan of his family and their antics but he's seems like a good enough guy and has a lot of potential. Also congrats to Kobe for his achievement tonight dude is a once in a generation talent and deserves his numbers hanging in the rafters.

The fact that he's shooting a lot better now is a good sign.  He was aggressive and scored some big buckets in OT.

Nothing I love more than spending the day watching Christmas games. First look at Cleveland this year and Love was lethal from outside, can't imagine the powerhouse that team is gonna be when I.Thomas is running point.

When it's torn, it's torn.  He's definitely out for the season no matter what, but hopefully the MRI shows a light-ish tear.

that sucks about damarcus cousins, its pretty unlikely he'll ever be the same player ever again, considering his body and playing style.
also, the raptors are creeping up on the Celtics.

Blake Griffin to the Pistons for Avery Bradley, Tobias Harris, Marjanovic and some picks. All this talk about being loyal to a franchise and these teams are over here trading star players at will.

Sounds like current and ex Clippers are tired of Doc Rivers. Maybe Griffin will be in a better environment and with a team that can potentially make it past the second round? Combination of Griffin and Drummond can make some serious damage in the East.

Eh, who knows.  These moves are probably being directed by Jerry West anyways.

Detroit sold the farm to make 8th place in the east. I don't understand why that team isn't better. They have soo much talent, and a really good coach.

Giannis, but since his team isnt a top seed in the east I'll doubt they'll give it to him.
