I’m not invested in either team winning but this is the best finals series in years. Finally a truly competitive finals

100%. Def gonna get up for game 7 at 2:30 at night.

Thunder down 22 at halftime, possibly the worst display of basketball at the worst possible time so far in this year’s playoffs.

Too many Pacers threes and too much bench as usual, but this time it’s the turnovers killing OKC instead of Indy.

Unless some insane shit happens in the second half we are headed for game 7 on Sunday, should have known this series would come down to one game for the title.

Shhhhiiiii you know Adam silvers like

 lol

Hope we get a barn burner. Need to compile a list of the GOAT finals game 7's....

Sunday is going to be lit! Hali looked way better last night, but now he's got 3 more days to heal up that calf. Regardless of who wins, I don't want it to come down to some injury on either team. I know Game 4 wasn't all on him, especially with that 12-1 run at the end, but hopefully they keep Scott Foster out of this.

For all the marbles... sit down with a nice meal, watch some hopefully good basketball.

Slightly bummed tho. While i love baseball, summers usually like:

The post nba season depression is real!  It's like reliably looking forward to doing something 3-4 nights a week, and having nothing..  Hoping there's some shakeups with the draft and free agency.

Why is that....?

Not really sure where i stand... didn't have to give up Reed or Cam Whitmore so guess there's that. Wish nothing but the best for Jalen... maybe he'll find some consistency next to Booker?

Maybe bc it was so obvious and Houston is kind of a team it’s hard to gin up emotions for positive or negative.   It’s like when LeBron went to the Heat

OKC by 13 to end the third quarter, hated to see Haliburton go down, nothing but respect for him although I can’t stand him or any of his teammates, speaking of, they got TJ McConnell out here looking like Larry MFing Bird for chrissakes.

Turnovers are killing Indy and obviously no Hali hurts them, he was killing it before he got hurt, they could use him now, don’t know if they have one more crazy comeback left in them but I sure fucking hope not. We’ll see.

Well, half of my wish came true. Hali hitting 3 3’s then his Achilles exploding in the first quarter is just a cruel fate.

Congrats to okc, they gonna be a juggernaut for years to come if they keeps egos in check (doesnt seem to be a problem atm). Sucks for pacers and Hali, so close and then an injury blow. What an entertaining playoff run overall, havent been following the nba like that in years.

KD to rockets: just happy the wolves did not blow up their core for him.

How do NBA players tear their achilles so easily? I watched the Celtics game when that Tatum dude tore his from lunging forward. I just saw a highlight on reddit of a Pacers guy having the same injury in the same way. I just don't get how? I know these are big dudes moving with a lot of force but they just seem very fragile to me. A skater will take the most heinous slam then get right up an land the next try, but a pro NBA player lunges forward and his achilles ruptures?? Are these guys' tendons made of glass? I guess it's just the repetition of lunging hundreds of times at full force for 90 minutes straight, but it's crazy how common it is.

Curious to know how many Achilles injuries happened in the 90s, 2000s, 2010s etc... compare it to today.

Baseball similarly, pitchers are having to get Tommy John surgery at a crazy rate it seems.

I just can't see them ever condensing the schedule down... maybe the next bargaining agreement? Whenever that is...

I think it's a matter of total time hooping.  I saw a piece about one-sport kids who had the knees of people 5 times their age.  If you make it to the league, odds are you logged 1000's of hours in HS, AAU, other youth leagues, and college.  I don't think their fragile at all, it's the cumulative wear and tear getting to the league.

So bummed for Hali.  Haven't heard the severity of his injury (tear, rupture, etc), but the fact dude went for it in game six despite team doctors telling him it was a 2 week injury, is a testament to Hali's competetiveness.  All the real heads knew OKC was a favorite, but the run Indiana had was out of a storybook.  Hoping he comes back strong!

Yeah that makes sense. I know they're top athletes and not fragile dudes but it's wild how easily that achilles tear can happen. I don't really watch basketball so I wasn't aware he was playing with an injury. That'll definitely do it. I tore a tendon in my hand just by turning a key a few months after I sprained my wrist really bad slamming on a back nosegrind at the park. Had to get surgery about it.

The reason I was rooting for Hali so much is by BIL was his AAU coach. I was on the same teams growing up. My ankle is so fucked from sports doctors telling me I was good-to-go when I wasn't. We went to the state championship and I was told it was cool for me to play on a sprained ankle when I could barely walk. After that, I sprain my ankle with any weird movement. If I land primo going down anything, it's a guaranteed sprain.

Under any other circumstance, Tyrese should have taken a couple weeks to heal his calf but it's the NBA finals so it was a gamble. He'll probably miss next season.

hate to win it that way...

but Thunder Up, baby!! 10 year old me made the best decision to leave the Lakers fandom behind and rock with the OG young core at OKC. the scary thing is this team's only gonna get better. wishing a speedy recovery to Hali. have nothing but love and admiration for this 'Cers squad. they never went away and had balls of steel whenever it looked like OKC was gonna pull away all series. much respect

There was a clip on YouTube (pretty sure from Shannon Sharpes podcast) discussing the Achilles injuries and one dude said it’s from everyone wearing low tops vs high tops back in the day. I have no idea but interesting theory. Maybe it makes sense that if you laced up a high pretty tight you’d have less range of motion on those explosive burts?

That would be at least an immediate variable to look at in the short term imo.. better impact support or arch support in the sneakers..

Not regarding the high top/low top debate, but ever see a player give a fan their shoes?  9/10 times their taking a custom insole out before handing them off..  The NBA has some of the best medical staff in the world, and I'm sure their hip to arch support.

It has nothing to do with shoes more so the herky jerky movements that are more prevalent now than ever before. Defense and offense have to be able to stop on a dime an accelerate from a stop to keep up with the opposing side.

Can't say I've ever seen them take out custom insoles, but not saying it doesn't happen. Also not saying it's a sneaker issue. More saying in the interim brands could make tweaks to see if that could help...

the lateral movements and how insanely athletic the players are now, plus how often they train versus 20-30 years ago... wear and tear. There Prob isn't an easy answer. Shortening/stretching out the season maybe... more days off in between games.

Edit found this interesting talks about Tatums injury @4:30 ish...

Im hoping the Blazers bought out Ayton bc they saw that good things happen to your franchise when you give the lakers gifts
