Man rewatching the highlights, the Knicks really did beat the refs and the Spurs.

See you guys Thursday at the parade.

Not long ago in this very thread, Fox was said to of showed up in big games and he can't help that he went to sactown.

That person was me:) did not age well.

Forever a fan after he busted lonzos ass in the national championship tho. So much hype. Kinda like being a fan of og, hart and brunson now

What a squad. What a run. You don't get to see stuff like this too often.

I think i was a Fox Stan... wanted Houston to sign him since we were the worst 4th Q team in the league. I'll eat crow 🤷🏻‍♂️ there is zero explanation for that blunder lmao

I saw somewhere coach brown was essentially fired from Sac for basically calling fox an idiot after a bad play and loss. Now he's won the chip. Full circle moment.

Fox scored 7 for the Spurs and 5 for the Knicks. He was first round 4th pick in 2017. Brunson was 2nd round 33rd pick in 2018.

Castle had an off game, but he’s going to be a major threat moving forward. Harper really came through and did not look like a rookie. Kornet was ill and you could tell.

Wemby should be proud of taking out OKC and had a great overall first finals appearance. He just needs to taste some heartache to reach his potential.

Anyways, I wonder what Bobby Puleo is making of all this?

Congrats to all the knicks fans in here. Well deserved, I am happy that a team that was not favored going into the playoffs won. And the way the knicks won was spectacular!

Got to think that a healthy Fox would be a better player. A guy whose game is built on speed isn’t going to thrive on a bum foot.

Fixing his ankle/foot won’t fix his decision making though.

Let’s run this series back next year with Harper starting.

Good for the Knicks and good for Knicks fans. Glad yall got it! Bit unexpected/odd/quick how it was won and I feel like fans wanted to see the job finished in New York but hey. I ain't trying to shit on yer parade. Respect.

Congrats to the knicks fans up in here.
Congrats to Brunson. dude is a scoring machine.

did yall see where his dad said....
"i know this is my son, and i love him, but Ewing is the best knicks player I've ever witnessed"

some manipulative shit going on there.

oh well.
what a season for the spurs. going to be exciting to watch for the next 12 years or so.

I really cant figure out Fox right now. I just kinda think....hes not a Spur. hes just a dude who plays in the NBA.
how can he not be at least one bit self-reflective? 36 minutes, 3-15.....1-8 ??? if his foot was bothering him, he should of sat more.

Fuckin Harper is a top-tier baller.

@Shapelessness Thanks man, appreciate that. It's been super fun talking ball with y'all on here these past weeks. The Spurs are gonna be a nightmare for the rest of the league for years to come, in a way the Knicks were lucky to get to play them while they were still pretty inexperienced. They'll cut out the (playoff) rookie mistakes sooner rather than later, and I have a hard time seeing anyone beat them then. That being said, this playoff run was by far the greatest sports thing I have ever witnessed. I became a Knicks fan in the fall of 2000. I saw my team win exactly one playoff series in the first 23 years of my fandom. I was completely resigned to rooting for a team that would never amount to anything ever again. Until Jalen Brunson became a Knick. King of New York forever.

Off-season is here! I've been entertaining ideas for next season as a casual fan and it's been fun to consider:

Will the Knicks keep roster as is? When OKC won they turned their core into made men with supermaxes all around.

Will Spurs shake anything up?

Or OKC?

The draft June 23

League needs Kai, Hali, and Trae back.

Will the Wizards make a run?

Teams capable of causing trouble for anyone: Pacers, Hawks, Hornets in East, in West GSW if they make any moves to stay relevant, Wolves, maybe Blazers

Will early-out teams make changes? Detroit, Denver, Houston, Toronto

The Giannis situation

The Bron situation

Guessing championships the year before feels like guessing SOTY the year before. It's pretty easy to predict who will make it to the playoffs, but the great thing about the playoffs is the unpredictability. There are so many wild cards (injuries, trades, heroics, etc.). I've said it a 100 times, but if Hali's Achilles didn't explode they'd most likely have taken the chip. If Nyjah didn't break his skull twice, maybe 2026 would finally be his year?

If Giannis goes to Boston and Tatum recovers, the ECF is a safe bet. It seems like he wants Miami, though. Harden is turning 37 and just got arrested, so I don't see the Cavs doing much. Detroit was #1 in the regular season and didn't even make conference finals.

WCF is almost certainly going to be a 2026 repeat. Honestly, I'm just as interested in the Chet vs. Wemby rematch as I am in the championship.

I heard on some pod that Wembanyama, on offense, is basically a perimeter player. That because of his build he won’t ever have the low center of gravity to have leverage in the paint, and that his best role is playing small forward. Durant-esque.

Assuming that’s true (yeah, big assumption) it would mean he should play alongside a muscular rebounding big who can still switch on the perimeter (itself a rare type)

Lack of rebounding and inside position was for sure an achilles heel in the finals.

Could the Spurs get Okongwu from the Hawks? If Giannis went to Miami, could they somehow pry Bam away from the Heat?

Edit: or Naz Reid! That’d be an interesting Marvel Team-up!

^That's an interesting theory. What a mindfuck it would be if the Spurs went all out this summer to sign the very best rebounder who can still guard outside pretty well... Mitch Robinson. I don't think it's possible to spoil my championship high in the foreseeable future but this would be a real test.

Yeah I didn’t say that one cause I can’t imagine the Knicks changing a thing about their squad. How many of these guys will have their jerseys hanging in the Garden rafters? All of them?

In the same way, it’d kill me to give up Castle or Vassell or Champagnie. And Harper is untouchable. I’m so bad at the trade game.

I think they all have the numbers retired in the vibe rafters where Starks, Lin, Marbury, Carmelo, Houston, and Sprewell hang, but in the real section maybe just Brunson

Anyone else playing the game 82-0. You pick players at random from different teams and decades. It's a lot of fun trying to pick a perfect team. I've gotten a perfect team twice. Let's see what y'all get.

Congrats to the Knicks, that was a fucking fun playoff run by them. Legendary stuff.

Ready for the draft though. Really curious to see what kind of weird shit happens since the clippers have a high lottery pick for the first time since Blake. Does kawhi get moved, does someone reach or make a weird pick at 3 or 4, is acuff the no brainer or do they get cute and pick mikel or wagler, do they get involved in the inevitable Giannis trade... lot of possibilities. It feels fun to actually have something to look forward to at the draft instead of the weird and cute picks they love to do in the late lottery.

This is hard! Magic, Iverson, T-mac, AD and Bob Pettit only get me to 62 wins.

Edit: Magic,World B Free, Havlicek, Zion and Wendell Carter get 61. I call shenanigans! Team 1 way nicer.

That has got to be the next phase of this. You build TWO teams, then WATCH them play a simulated game.

I don’t know videogames enough to know: can you play with old players? (Wilt, Cousy, Robertson, etc etc?)

Best so far:
Rondo
Luka
Nique
McAdoo
Wilt

78-4

Hella underrated:
Oscar Robertson
Raptors Vince Carter
Larry Bird
Giannis
Patrick Ewing

74-8

Absolute most fun to watch of any era, All-Time All Nickname, and criminally underrated at 62 wins:

Earl the Pearl at point
Pistol Pete Maravich
Nique, the Human Highlight Film
Blake “Nutz on ya Forehead” Griffin
The Greek Freak

I’ll run this five against any five.

And now I HAVE to quit playing this. They’ll find my dehydrated corpse 1000 rounds later!
