This video just reminds me of the kids that skate the 4 set at the park all day trying the same trick. That is the type of skating that comes as a product of videos like this. Whether you think that is cool or not is just dependent upon your own personal definition of skateboarding.

It's really tough for a video to come out these days, nothing is ever going to be as memorable and timeless as videos that came out before the internet was the primary source for skate media. Crazy footage comes and goes, and it's a desensitization to how talented these people are. I know some people on here hold some weird taboo to going to demos when your older but it always helped me gain some perspective on people's abilities.

I'm 28 and go to every demo I possibly can. Not that we get that many in OZ.

Are you talking about skate videos or porn?
This isn't the 90's anymore. ESPN, Nike and Mountain Dew are Big Brother, Es and beer. Time to slip into some comfy New Balances and head towards old age.

And whoever was talking about trick names and what constitutes a "full cab," there is no such thing as a "full cab" its a cab or a caballarial. Is there such thing as a "full kickflip" or a "full 360 flip?"

At first I thought it was just the kids ('fakie full cab' fucking idiots), but I've been seeing "full cab" in the mags so now there is no stopping it.
[close]

once the darkslide trend catches on, kids will start saying "full kickflip" to differentiate from the half kf/hf to get into those tricks. then a mean rocket ollie trend will start, and kids will start saying "full ollie" for a well-popped ollie. then a trend of skating broken-in-half boards will start, and kids will start saying "full board" for a normal skateboard.

we've started down a slippery slope, i tell ya.

Don't worry, it didn't catch on with Rodney, it's sure as fuck not catching on because of Greco.

Whilst I was pretty hyped on pretty much every part in this video I think it kind of showed how much heavier the Baker roster is to the Deathwish team.

Figgy, Nuge, Baca, Herman, Reynolds, Spanky etc. make a much better video than Greco et al.

But I'm going to give best part to slash. song choice, trick selection and the beard made me pretty hyped on the whole thing. Made me want to skate.

Whilst Dickson's part was sick, I'm not that interested in his style but his ender was pretty amazing.

I hope that Baker Boys goes down the path of releasing combined Deathwish/Baker videos like Crailtap does.

thats understandable since they're a much younger company than baker, plus if antwuan hadnt piled out the way he did that'd be another superstar talent on the team.

i feel like the need like some super gnarly transition skater like grant taylor (not exactly him, but someone similar) & someone else who does tech shit on gnarly spots like a jordan hoffart. Moose already kinda fills that role but they should get another guy like that thats more tech than gnar, but still pretty gnar.

Not enough talk about Moose's part. Total skate rat.

So first off, Moose starts his part out with ledge lines then it gets gnarlier when a line ends in a tech handrail trick. Then its tech ledge combos and manny combos and a tech line. Then it goes to some pretty simple tricks on bigger rails, and some flip tricks down gaps and some more techgnar rail tricks. It was a great part, much better than Furby's. I could see people hating on it cause its too clean, or he goes average speed and doesnt take 10 extra unneeded pushes.

Although keep in mind that I also like the 10 extra unneeded pushes also, but only in parts that are able to work with it.

Damn, analyzing skateboarding is reminding me of my old culinary courses.

while he did kill it, it didn't do THAT much for me.  it all kinda blends into the long hair, dirt bag, rail/gap bombers.

that switch flip in NY was a thing of fucking beauty though.

i need to watch the whole video again.

After watching this video a couple of times, its boring as shit. Two kids jump over the same rail for their enders, and one kid ends his part with a trick down a set of stairs smaller than he's done before. The entire video is just gap, rail, gap, rail, gap, rail. A couple decent tricks done down gaps and rails, but its all kinda just stuntman shit at boring LA spots. No real rolling on their skateboards aside from rolling up to or away from their single tricks
[close]

nigga its called the deathwish video not the "roll around on my skateboard as i do stylish pushes trying to look like im having fun" video. what were you expecting?
[close]

YES!
[close]

Neither of you know what real gnar is. I wasn't talking about "trying to look like I'm having fun" its about doing new tricks at different shit that actually is risky, instead of skating the same shit over and over that you know exactly how to bail from.
You want to know what real gnar is like?
Here is a start for you:
http://www.thrashermagazine.com/component/option,com_hwdvideoshare/Itemid,90/lang,en/task,viewvideo/video_id,2081/

Skating the same kind of spot over and over isn't a "deathwish," its staying within your comfort zone.

I'll admit Lizard had some interesting sketchy shit going, and Baca has some sketchy as shit on the baker side of the baker/deathwish duo, but other than that, these dudes do the same shit over and over, adding one or two stairs in each part. That's not getting gnarly, that's just the most boring kind of "progression" there is.
[close]

yeah yeah yeah oh preach on mighty gipper, your insight has left me oh so inspired & revitalized. despite the fact that skating gaps is the main thing i do on a skateboard, i would have never known what real gnar was like if it wasnt for your ultimate wisdom. These guys barely skated anything risky, and nobody did anything they havent done before. the deathwish video is whack.

[close]
You are free to feel what you feel about the video, I just put my opinion out there, and you came up with multiple arrogant responses (something hillarious coming from a very stupid child). I said it was boring, and you derided my opinon, so I explained what I meant. If you found it interesting, that's fine. I didn't, and its not because I don't like gnarly skating, its because like any approach to skating, I want to see people being creative, and if they are claiming "gnar" I want to see them trying sketchy shit, not just big shit.

And whoever was talking about trick names and what constitutes a "full cab," there is no such thing as a "full cab" its a cab or a caballarial. Is there such thing as a "full kickflip" or a "full 360 flip?"
[close]
well... there is such thing as a half-cab.... so therefore turning all the way is rightfully called a 'full-cab'. there's also of course the 'full cab' shoe from cabbalero. cab, full cab, caballarial.... same shit. there is no 'half kickflip' or 'half 360 flip' so that isn't really a valid point.

& your whole argument about how they all skate the same stuff & no one pushes themselves is a little off too. there are a lot of new spots in this video that will very likely never get touched again. the rail slash krooked? the bank greco ollied into? how many tricks did greco have in that part that he has never done before? how many types of skating did he have in there that he has never touched? how many spots did he skate that no one has skated? i've never seen slash do a lot of those ledge tricks. these dudes pushed themselves. you should've known what you were about to watch, you know who these guys are. and i don't see how people skating a bunch of ramps they skate all the time is 'risky'........

reynolds is always learning something new but he skates 'the same old shit' mostly... is he boring to watch? c'mon
I'm not going to continue defending or explaining why the video has no rewatch value to me...but you are a fucking idiot for calling it a "full cab" its a god damned caballarial or a cab. The reason there is a "full cab" shoe is because for a while there were just half cab shoes. There have been caballarials the whole fucking time through, for 30 fucking years its been either cab or caballarial, some dipshit kid like you isn't going to change that.
Or to put it simply- calling a cab a "full cab" is redundant, as it is implied in the name. Half cabs need to be called that because they aren't caballarials, because they only go halfway around.
Would you call it a Full backside 360? A full mctwist? A full gay twist? Does that help your feeble and shitty mind get it?
Are you a kook? If you would say this, the answer is “YES”
I quit skating for a time due to piling out

There is no such thing as going too fast in skating.  It only makes everything better.  It's the key ingredient actually.  Can you name someone who goes too fast and it detracts from their skating?  Perhaps you are focusing too much on the reduction and not enough on the meat.

I am slightly surprised there isn't an overall applause for Dickson's part, dude is a standout talent.
[close]

while he did kill it, it didn't do THAT much for me.  it all kinda blends into the long hair, dirt bag, rail/gap bombers.

that switch flip in NY was a thing of fucking beauty though.

i need to watch the whole video again.

I understand the rail/gap thing, I just feel that amongst that whole thing thats so prevalent Dickson is no joke.

Greco's part is up on the berrics for free today!

I liked his part, but I don't understand the ender, and the last few tricks on this micro rail...weird!  I mean he has so much gnarly stuff in his
part and then ending it like that?  and for those guys saying this is soty stuff...did you see gravettes part or this clint walker guy? not even close!

The reason there is a "full cab" shoe is because for a while there were just half cab shoes.

yeah ... nah!

Impish sausage is definitely gonna blow up as a euphemism this year

it's not like if someone says "i cabbed that" i am going to get confused or say they're wrong... they aren't wrong. at the same token, if someone says "i full cab flipped that gap".... same thing. it's all pretty much lingo to me. rightfully, it is called a caballarial but, cab & full cab are pretty much just slang words. get over it. same with krooked grinds (crooks, k-grinds, koston grind) or 360 flip (tre flip, 3 flip) call it what you want. you are such a goon for taking this website so seriously. calling someone an idiot & saying they have a feeble mind over the name of a skateboard trick is ludicrous. suck yourself.

He was probably more psyched on that last one than the big stuff, as am I.  I was like...

Video was definitely rad, I loved Ellington's Pressure Flip down that Library Gap and Lizard's Wallie Nosemanny at the Rowley white wall.

Neen skating to the Cramps was sick too!
