Nice find, Brimmo.

I was gifted a set of both Park and Street Burners from DLXSF. Was so stoked... for about a week...

When I said, they felt good I really meant it. Real nice wheels, just not up to today's standards at all.
DLX sent practically everyone on Slap samples of the F1’s about 6-12 months before they were released. They even sent a lot of us samples of the F4’s too. I remember thinking it was funny they skipped formulas 2 and 3. Formula four does sound cooler though

I’d be curious to try some of those old F1’s for nostalgia sake. Those things were a game changer when there weren’t a lot of “premium” wheel options. There was a time in my life where I’d have to set up a new set of 52mm classics about every 2 weeks because of how much I skated. They’d be flat spotted bearing shields. F1’s came out and my wheels started lasting a month, sometimes longer

Not to bring on waves of nostalgia, but just looking through some of these old catalogs and the DLX Fall 2015 one is so packed full of amazing things, I almost wish I could go back and save a few more things than what I have from that era.  To be fair, I did see and keep a lot of stuff from this time, but among other things, this was the first time the Radial Slims came out too.

I don't know how the 2015 catalogs survived when some years on either side are long gone, but this one is definitely worth a look.  It takes a while to load though, but here is the link and the cover / first pic below.

https://www.dlxsf.com/fall15/sf.html

* I guess 2015 was the first time the DLX catalogs were online, from the header of the Spring catalog info.

https://www.dlxsf.com/spring15/index.html

No summer listing I could find for 2015 but there is one up for 2016 still.

Gone since 1988.  I talk too much about skateboards.  Sorry.

No there are others too but you need to see them in person to see if the package has a "new formula" sticker.

It might be easiest to say this:

The Pedro Delfino Radial shapes in 55 and 57 mm sizes are the only ones you are guaranteed to get with the new formula.

Seems to be the case of the reformulated 97 duro offerings, almost no one has seen Classic shapes or there are very few out there, quite a few people have seen and bought Radial Full shapes in 54 and 56 mm and some people have seen and bought Conical Full shapes in 54 mm.

It might also depend on where you are in the world, eg here in Australia there are quite a few of some options, but in USA there seem to be very few / mostly sold out.  Not sure about EU or other places, but few and far between seems to be the common story right now.

Hey, how do 93s behave on smooth concrete ?

I wanna build myself an ATV board to follow my son when he is cycling in pumptracks or on rough ground(i have huge 65 filmer wheels at the moment), but i would like also to be able to skate transition with it when the occasion rises.

Any advice ?

dyed another set of the 93s. as stupid as they look i fuck with them.

skated them out the box without dyeing and they were pretty sticky. after the dye they slide better than a 99. idk if the dye changes the formula but in my experience it feels like it does

Love the Red Wheels

93 on smooth can 100% work. its just very grippy on the floor. i can still do all my tricks and everything. i find it is a bit slow on these surfaces too. i prefer the new 97a for an "all around" wheel personally because nothing i ride regularly is super crusty lately.

Seconding the new 97 for a great all-around wheel. Indoors, too.

I hated the 93a wheels at first. Dragons 92 seemed faster and slid better. Now i got used to the 93a 52mm classic and they are pne of my favorite wheels.

One thing to note is that the bearing moves inside the wheel a bit. I have the axle nuts tighter than usual to prevent wheel play on the axle and i still have to push the bearing ins after i pinch or land slightly cooked. Might have to use race reds, you can tighten them all the way down and the wheels still spin great

Think they were too old bits were falling off the wheels quite consistently weirdly still not the best feeling boneless 360 on the local quarter yet. Definitely felt different to f4s and felt a bit like modern pig wheels especially the pig primes (103A)

For those of you who say that F4 flat spots fix themselves, how long does it usually take? I have a set that flat spotted on the third session. I put them back on today and bombed hills for an hour straight and it didn’t seem to make any progress

When you run a nail over the flat spot in the wheel, how deep is it?  That is more likely going to help with the answer, eg the deeper the flatspot, the longer it will take to wear down through it.

Also in checking it, is it just a simple flatspot or more?  Quite a few other things, abrasions, chunks taken out or whatever else will make the wheel feel funny too.

Depends on how big it is.

I've only ever had tiny flat spots on F4s and they iron out within a few sessions or hill bombs but I could see a significant one last awhile.

I flat spotted the shit out of a Bones SPF once and that was never going to iron out...

How did you do it? going upside down at marginal way again???

It looks normal and round, but I can feel it when I run my finger over it. Riding it on a smooth surface feels like it’s several millimeters deep (it’s not), it feels terrible

Close, I flat spotted them last summer on the mini loop at Newport. I need to go back with some grippier wheels and land it

Thinking for some of mine, doing laps around a fairly coarse / old skatepark was the best natural way, all the hard carve pump motion really wore down the back wheels a fair bit for me.

Going the "I want this flatspot out now" method I usually use, lightly black the line or spot with a marker, then angle grind the face of the wheel while still on the board running it across slowly but surely, not trying to go too deep, but usually that takes me a few minutes and comes out great.  Doing it until I can't see the marker is the main thing.

Note: it probably does take a bit of practice - wheel still on the board, bearings screaming or at least going faster than they ever have before, disc spinning at a slight angle which almost mimics wear while rolling anyway.

Not for everyone, but works really well for me.  Trying on old wheels first can help get things right.  Also not pushing too hard, which can oval the wheel, but just going slow and steady working the face of the wheel is what I do.

patiently waiting for 93a radial fulls

There’s a two-page ad for these (58mm) in the May Thrasher with Foy on the cover (p. 32-33). Interestingly, there’s almost no information about them available online except this out of stock DLX entry in which it says “93” on the wheel graphic, but it’s labeled 99 in the description.

I was even wondering if any were actually made at all, given what people in the know were saying about the "secret ingredient" not being available due to it being used for other things, as per the info on the previous page and the ones before that too.

Even all the pre book catalog info has not been put up on the normal Spitfire catalog, so I was hoping they were just delayed more than anything.

* The Bannerot wheel was in the Spring Drop 1 catalog, by the way.  Unless they only had a few of them and they only went to DLX shop, I can't see this wheel even had a release at all yet.  Hoping they do come out as people do want the shape.

I would say get the radials and not the classic shaped ones and you’ll be good. Only issue I sort of had at smoother spots was sliding

Just got f4 classics in 60mm.  99a  I wanted to try a big hard wheel.  It is big and heavy enough to go over cracks pretty well.  Also wanted the predictable slide and it delivers.  Really fun wheel.

After a total of about 3 hours of hill bombs, the massive flat spot I had is almost gone. Doing powerslides definitely sped up the process, thank you to everyone who suggested that. I can still feel the flat spot when I rub my thumb over it, but it’s at a point where I barely notice it when riding my local park
