For those of you who say that F4 flat spots fix themselves, how long does it usually take? I have a set that flat spotted on the third session. I put them back on today and bombed hills for an hour straight and it didn’t seem to make any progress
When you run a nail over the flat spot in the wheel, how deep is it? That is more likely going to help with the answer, eg the deeper the flatspot, the longer it will take to wear down through it.
Also in checking it, is it just a simple flatspot or more? Quite a few other things, abrasions, chunks taken out or whatever else will make the wheel feel funny too.
It looks normal and round, but I can feel it when I run my finger over it. Riding it on a smooth surface feels like it’s several millimeters deep (it’s not), it feels terrible
Thinking for some of mine, doing laps around a fairly coarse / old skatepark was the best natural way, all the hard carve pump motion really wore down the back wheels a fair bit for me.
Going the "I want this flatspot out now" method I usually use, lightly black the line or spot with a marker, then angle grind the face of the wheel while still on the board running it across slowly but surely, not trying to go too deep, but usually that takes me a few minutes and comes out great. Doing it until I can't see the marker is the main thing.
Note: it probably does take a bit of practice - wheel still on the board, bearings screaming or at least going faster than they ever have before, disc spinning at a slight angle which almost mimics wear while rolling anyway.
Not for everyone, but works really well for me. Trying on old wheels first can help get things right. Also not pushing too hard, which can oval the wheel, but just going slow and steady working the face of the wheel is what I do.
Oh yeah, that thing is fucked but you got it. Maybe some 93s...
Also, take your flatspotted F4s to any old Oregon coast park and them shits will be sanded round within a few hours....
