Yea idk if I’ve mentioned it on here before but I bought into the wide wheel trend back in like 2019, and so only recently since joining slap have I thought of switching my stuff up because I felt like the stuff I was skating was holding me back. Like just in march I was on 57mm lock in fulls, huge heavy wheels. Then I got some 55mm vcut sml wheels for $20 and liked them a lot but then I joined on here and felt like I needed to try something new. So I just got 53mm classic fulls and have been on them for a month. And I’m loving them. I guess what I’m getting at here is the wheel itself (the 56mm classic fulls) is very much so up the alley of what I normally like to skate, width and size wise. I was more surprised tho by the shape of the wheel itself. Idk how else to explain it other than the proportions don’t scale up consistently as the size goes up? Like width to diameter to riding surface, so the profile of the actual wheel itself doesn’t look quite as classic shaped at the current 53s I’m on. But im sure its more me and how I’m looking at them rather than the wheel itself, although I am now going to the skate shop in the morning to take a look at their radials just to compare the actual lip profile.

Cool to see a new classic full that’s the one shape I’ve never been able to try. TBH I’m still praying for a radial slim comeback though lol

classic slim was a really good shape too. I remember they did a Reynolds graphic in that shape around 2014. only lasted one season though. 😫

The classic slim was nice on smooth ground but was fucked on anything that even had a slight bit of texture

Yes, I understand what you are getting at there - some wheels do scale up very gently, even the Radial shape does until it goes from 57 to 58 - the 58 mm Radial is a very wide wheel, compared to the other sizes in the same shape.

It is funny how some of the wheels even just look big, which does include the Classic Full 56 or 58 mm sizes, when compared to some others, which as you said do have a different shape look to them than a much finer rounded Classic look.

I guess the best thing would be to put them on a board and see.

What size trucks / deck are you putting them on / do you usually ride?

Rn I’ve been running an 8.75 prime wood blank with 6.1 venture v8s. I just sized down from 9” popsicles with ace classic 55s. I think I’ll throw my lock in fulls on for a sesh or two and then throw the 56 classic fulls on after so they feel smaller rather than jumping up from the 53s im on rn

I know there were some interested parties for this, so I'm sharing.
We just got a restock of some f4 97's and they came with the new updated formula sticker.
only in
53mm classic shape
54mm classic shape
54mm radial full shape

any others on our site are assumed to be regular 97a formula.

So good!!!

They are the main sizes people I know want too.

Did you get other sizes and shapes that were the regular / original formula in the 97s in this same restock, or only those ones?

Here's some stuff I figured out, some from personal experience, some from referencing current charts

Like how I can skate 53 or 54mm classics interchangeably, but a 55 classic is suddenly too big. Certain wheels are suddenly quite a bit wider than the other ones in the same range

I've skated classic 52s, 53s, 54s, 56s, 58s, and 60s. Radial 54s and 58s, and bighead 54s

Classics jump at 55, and again at 60
Classic fulls jump at 56
Bigheads jump at 59
Radials jump at 58
Radial fulls are consistent throughout

i was trying to decide on a good 93a wheel to keep around for crusty spots And this research helped me narrow it down

Classic 56, radial 56, or the bannerot radial full 54s

I normally skate 99a 54mm classics, so I should prolly just do the 56 classics..

The classic and radial 56s are both 35mm wide and the bannerot radial full 54s are 38mm wide

Kinda want to try the radial fulls cause I haven't had any yet, and I have had the 58mm radial 93s which are also 38mm wide, and I liked them.. other than sticking on crooks on metal ledges... But I think the width should have a bigger effect on smoothing out crust than the diameter, right?

these are both the size charts from both classic full sets I got. The top ones are the repeater graphic from a few years ago, and I just wanna know, since the size charts are different are they actually updating the size and shape of them or have they just been putting the wrong sizes on there. Cause that seems insane. I mean maybe give or take .1mm but the 58s? They go from 35mm with to 38mm and riding surface from 20.8mm to 24! I don’t think this is just a mistake in writing the wrong sizes. But plz lmk if u have had any older ones that u measured new. And maybe we can figure out a way to compare and see if they did update the design

(I definitely didn’t imbed these right. Can someone please dm me and explain how to do it properly)

At least the packaging for the mushroom ones is consistent with the sizes on the online catalog - 37mm wide for 56mm

I'm curious if they updated it or if the sizes were just written wrong too

Here's an older size chart, still has the jump up to 37mm wide at 56mm just like the recent mushroom ones

Damn those grosso’s and kostons sound sick

I just wonder if they are continuously updating the shape and if so how the older ones or different widths for the same size feel between one another. Would be interesting to see. Cause even the 53s I have are apparently.5mm larger in riding width than the new ones. Should I buy the new 53s just to see?

I think the shapes have been fairly consistent for a while now, with the older charts and packaging information being incorrect, but finally seem like they have been updated to be correct, at least on the wider Classic Full wheels now.

Maybe only the Lock Ins that they remade wider (not Lock In Fulls which are wider again) I can think of that they changed the shape of an existing wheel.

Classics once upon a time (before Formula Four) were wider too, but that really was so long ago now, I doubt many others would even still have sets of those around.  The blue swirl 56 mm in the original urethane was one of my favourites when they wore down a couple of mm for how wide and semi rounded they became.

I wasn't so keen on the "Burners" but I am pretty keen to see how these go, if for nothing more than to have on some boards for people to use on the fairly slippery surface at the indoor skatepark I am at.

Any other info on when they come out, or just wait and see?

just putting formula 4 on everything cause of successful branding
hopefully they dont water it down or make it even more confusing than it already is
i wonder how much a formula 4 99a has changed since its initial release in 2013 or whenever it was

Rawb, the advert/copy generated by the mfg (Deluxe) does not say Formula Four, or F4 anywhere on it.
Nor do the wheels featured in the link provided above.
If gigantic sporting goods warehouse TGM muddies things by including erroneous info on their website, that’s on THEM.
You out here tying yourself in mental knots over brand dilution  when there hasn’t even been an announce of any sort regarding a new F4 duro hitting the market yet.
Pause.
Breathe.
Think burners, but in 95.
They’re for the kids & budget minded peeps.
Hope that helps ease your troubled spirit.

Thus spoke Zarathustra.
But Deluxe themselves made a point of saying “Entry Level Wheels” in their ad copy.
Sound like F4 to you, or more like some cut downs made from leftover stock of Soft Ds or something?
I may or may not have contacted somebody at Deluxe for info on the matter.
They’re not F4 wheels, but please do go ahead: pick up a set & get back to us w/ your opinion on them.

.

I remember way back in the archives of this thread (didn't go looking but I know it is in there somewhere) someone had posted a screen shot of Reynolds with a test set of 95 duro wheels to try.

Even though there are the 90 Sapphires (which are remarkable for what they are) the 93 Soft Sliders, the 97 formula and reformulated versions, along with Formula Four 99s (and 101s) there were still the old formula wheels in 92, 95, 97 and 99 duro options and I think the 95 duro wheels were really good for the in between stuff - didn't feel like soft wheels the way the 92s did, but still had plenty of grip and less vibration compared to the 97 or 99s at the time.

Any which way, it will be a while before any end up down here, so I have plenty of time to enjoy what I currently have and am sure I will hear more about them soon enough.

A mid 90 duro wheel is always good for kids too, or for the completes that a lot of companies bring out, so I think that will be good for the "mid market" option, either to add to an existing budget complete, or set up for someone if they don't need to go for the usual 99 or 101 duro options.

Sidenote: I saw this reynolds story a few weeks ago and just thought of it now. I wonder if Spitfire is brewing a response.
